I would keep Lamela I prefer him in the team than Dembele.
His still young and can improve plus we need good players to choose from.

I've been a consistent supporter of Lamela, but I now feel that maybe it's just not going to work out for him in the Prem. If we can get a decent price, like Soldado, maybe it's better if we parted company?
It will free up money and wages for another signing.

I would love the guy to do well but I've seen little evidence of a footballing brain. Some nice flicks and he occasionally opens his box of tricks but he seems to have little reading of the game.

He played well that one time in that one game that's slowly fading from memory, the memories that stick however are the thousand times a game he loses the ball for no reason under limited pressure, his defensive frailties...his attacking frailties...maybe he's a great keeper? How many chances can the guy have. If you forget his price tag then I don't think he'd be around the first team, what's the harm in loaning him out for a season and seeing if he can cut it with more minutes?

Why have you given up? after only two game where he has been used as a substitute.

Before the season started I was fully behind Lamela and I feel like it would be seriously harsh to write him off already considering that all he's had is two sub appearances so far.

I think the bigger reason he'd be likely to leave at this point is that he's currently not a starter for Poch who has now sided with Dembele. I don't have an issue with that at all but it may be that if Juve really do make a serious bid then for the sake of all parties, selling him may now be the way to go whilst he retains some good value.

One more average season with us and we'll struggle to see any kind of significant return.

Lamela has some good tricks but not the pace or the physical presence we need. There has been no major sign of improvement. He seems a bit of an expensive luxury and maybe it is time for him to move on.

My biggest problem with Lamela is that he can't beat a player one on one. He often ends up running into them or he plays a pass to look as if he had planned to, which is then intercepted. At that point he then looks accusingly at his team mate.. ok that's three big problems.
He'll probably tear it up in another league, but I feel we need to recoup some of that 30million.. (and spend it on Yarmolenko!! - please someone tell Levy before Everton get him!!)

If we could replace him with a (genuinely) £18-20m player then I would be more than happy to send him on his way.

I don't see us being able to identify and wrap up that sort of deal in two weeks though.

This season he has only had 1-2 weeks of pre-season. I dont think it is right to write him off just yet.

He does need to use this season to convince there is the player in there that buying him suggested there was and the progression last year showed more than the previous (injury effected) season.

Maybe the Premier League isnt for him but If he does go we limit our creative options even more and would be cutting our losses a little too soon for my liking.

Depends what the offer is.

It was a 5 year deal so we've paid what, 15mill or so

Also depends on who his replacement would be.

A lot of ifs about this one

So far he's been a big f*cking waste of time and money – a big disappointment. I just hope that Levy and co have learned a lesson or two about not spending huge sums of cash on untried and untested in the Prem kids. Well you'd bloody well like to think so anyway!!

Whoever mentioned defensive frailties is watching a different player. Strangely enough he seems to do well at tackling, intercepting and tracking back. Please remember how long it took ronaldo and bale, both of whom are now world class.

I read the Italian Sports News Every day.(Gazzetta Dello Sport)..it would seem that Juventus are far more interested in replacing Andrea Pirlo with Erikssen....no mention at all of Lamela,,,??

The very best he's been for us is average. More often than not he's been nothing short of a liability when on the pitch.

We've had a lot of players over the years that have come under criticism despite offering lot lot more in their time than he has.

You mean hacking down and running after balls he's lost in the first place?

Like a lot of people ive really wanted him to do well and made all the excuses for him so far.
im at the end of my love in now and seeing Stoke sign Shaqiri while we persevere with Lamela REALLY hurts.
