With regards to us not being quite as successful as that mob from Greenwich for nurturing young talents. I think the reference point made was they had a foundation of experienced players with a recent history of success therefore it was much easy for them to integrate younger players into there team, (mind you they also had there failures IE Sendaros)

The problem Spurs seemed to have was we did not have players used to winning, is the reason why Davids and Naybet before him IMO were such vital additions to the team/squads at the time.

Also, a much more experienced player, brought into a team where the defence wasn't in total disarray because of injuries. And again, we'd have paid pretty much the same for Curtis Davies as we did for Kaboul. Now I know CD had put in some decent performances when MON finally gave him his break, and before his injury, but for much of the season he was kept out by Zat Knight—and if any of us had suggested Zat Knight would be a good signing for Spurs we'd have been laughed off the forum.

We really didn't have a lot of options: Distin was available, there was no serious chance Chivu would choose us over Inter, and I don't think Woody would have come to us in the summer. We also knew Ledley would be back at the end of September.

Well, we thought we knew that…
