I'd take a Shane Long or a Charlie Austin-type at the Lane. We need someone tough as nails and solid, who'll work his ass off for the cause and chip in with the odd goal now and again. Hell at this point I'd take Frazier fucking Campbell rather than nobody.

Is it that hard to find a decent center forward?

Still think Chadli has all the attributes to be a very good striker.

He is a wing forward or inside forward at best although I have my doubts on the latter. He is no CF and never will be. CF or striker is half learned and half natural instinct. You have to have the natural talent to start with. Its all about taking up positions, timing your runs, intimidating the defence and playing off the last defender frequently facing away from the action. It requires some chutzpah. I dont think Chadli has those natural qualities as a striker. If he had, some coach would have identified it sooner. I have worked at coaching a lot of teams at junior and senior level and a good forward is a rare beast. There are a lot of kids who think they can play there but very few who can do it well. Having said that he could be a temporary stand in but dont expect a Harry Kane. You'll be very disappointed if you do. Chadli would be waiting for the ball to be played to him on a plate. Kane makes his own dinner.

Chadli has the odd tendency to play like a complete tart, which is why I'm sceptical about him playing this role..

I'd take a Shane Long or a Charlie Adam-type at the Lane. We need someone tough as nails and solid, who'll work his ass off for the cause and chip in with the odd goal now and again. Hell at this point I'd take Frazier fucking Campbell rather than nobody.

Charlie Adam??? As a backup for Harry?

Jordan Rhodes...he's as close to a Harry Kane clone as we are realistically going to find who is also willing to play second fiddle

Remember when the window closed and the lack of back-up was our death knell?

We only need someone if its the right player. If it's not the right player, if they don't fit, if they are more negative for the team than positive, if they mess with the culture or the feel of the dressing room then, quite honestly, I'd rather throw a scotch egg out there to give Kane a spell if and when he actually needs one.

No idea what happened at Palace and doubt Chelsea would do business, but always liked the look of Bamford.

I personally dont think we would get a prem striker. No one would sell. Why would they? Think about it.

I definitely don't want a reserve with an attitude problem from WBA.

I would go for Austin. Proven prem experience and would be happy to warm the bench. Waiting for his chance.

Available for Levy money and would slot into our team ethos.

A scotch egg would be no good up front due to the fact its scottish.

I don't agree with just bringing in anybody, but I've long admired Shane Long. I fuckin love his work ethic and ability to just flat out harass and frustrate opposition back lines.

I wouldn't mind adding Yoshinori Muto. He works hard all over the pitch, can score and could really fit in with the young/promising group of players.

I think that would be worth a gamble, Rhodes or Austin as backup, if we could get below 10m Levy may see it as a decent gamble.

Southampton aren't going to do business with us for Shane Long, and although he knuckles down he doesn't like being on the bench and we already are in the bad books over the whole Schnerderlin saga

Us simply getting Berahino early in this transfer window looks very much on though?

- He barely gets played (and Pulis even saying he is lucky to make the bench)
- His value will be lower
- We, and especially Poch, clearly fancy him.
- He will be rested and well up for proving what he's got
- He wants out of West Brom
- Young and english so would hopefully fit right in

Im not personally for this deal, but who am i to question Poch and the staff! Hopefully the West Brom chairman will realize he already cost his club enough.

Hi guys. My first post here. :)

I haven't seen anyone mention Andrej Kramaric from Leicester.
The guy's getting frustrated because he's not getting enough playing time (which is expected because of Vardy, Mahrez and the rest of the team).
Mitchell had allegedly watched him in December before he went to Leicester, probably because Kramaric scored 28 goals for Rijeka that half season (21 goals in the league and 7 in Europa League).
Kramaric is only 24, is match fit and came on against Liverpool as a late sub. He prevented a Liverpool goal after an insane run across the pitch (there's a gif on reddit but I don't think I'm allowed to post it here).
I don't think he would cost a fortune since they signed him for £9 million and would probably sell him instead of guys from the first team.
He would also have something to prove and has the right attitude to blend in our young team.

Even against the bus parkers recently we seem to get moments where we win the ball high and create space, just lack that final pass or intelligent run, personally I think we need a player who is bit unpredictable, quicker than Kane, a team player but will take advantage of space, take players on.
I only see Chadli as our last option in an injury crisis, Austin is a no, Berahino I'm 50/50 on, Poch could improve him but I worry about his mentality.
If we get this purchase right we could really cement top 4, maybe higher.
