To be honest if we did sign Berahino or someone similar then alarm bells would start ringing for me in regards to N'Jie. Isn't he supposed to be the pacey, play on the shoulder option who can play centrally or wide and is there to offer something different such as a threat on the counter? Signing anyone else with (on paper) largely the same skillset doesn't look good, in my opinion.

It was before January windows existed, but Cantona did join United from Leeds (remember them?!) at the end of November. Their form rapidly turned around, and they ended up winning the first Prem title.

I get your point though, however I think a new striker would be very helpful for the rest of the season.

Good example but the fact we have to go back so far (and bend the criteria slightly) to find one sort of proved the point!

January signings are very rarely the answer for the big teams (of which we are one of). If we can find the right player: brilliant. If not, Son and Chadli are not exactly Frazer Campbell.

A loan signing could work, but a permanent one is just that, and we need to be careful not to end up with another Andy Carrolll on our hands.

I'm starting to think that the only 2 strikers we have been linked with by credible sources and who are still available/still wanted are Sandro Ramirez (Barca) and Moussa Dembele (Fulham).

Any others I've forgotten about (and mention source please).

Think we won't sign a striker in January, but will get either embolo or batshuayi in the summer

but he's looked like a fish out of water when playing the lone striker role in the premier league and that's why we need a 2nd striker who can be effective as a lone striker. Son's best position is to the left or right of the striker.

he hasn't played the lone role in the premier from the start of a match yet, not sure how many times he has replaced Kane

Don't understand why we'd send Dembele back to Fulham on loan for the rest of the season if we don't sign another recognised forward

Looks more and more like Chadli might be the backup for Kane in the number 9 position even though he's far more effective coming from the flank
