I said it a few years ago and I will say it again...................if any player wants to leave, sell them.
We should have sold Modric last year, it would have had absolutely no effect on our season and we should also have sold Berbatov when he wanted to go.
It paints a terrible picture of us as a club and it effects our ability to bring in new players.
It's pathetic that we now have had 2 players go on strke to get a move away from us.
Make no mistake about it,agents will not want their players coming here because if they are successful we won't let them leave.
I am a big fan of Daniel Levy but he is WRONG in the way he treats these players and it is detrimental to us as a club.
We are not a MAJOR force in football yet but if we continue down this road...............we will never be.

Sell them for how much?

WE HAVE ALREADY SAID WE WILL SELL MODRIC!!!!! Why should we sell him for 27m when he's clearly worth a lot more?

But it's completely childish, who gives a fuck what the media or opposing fans think.
I only want what's best for Spurs.

We need to embrace our weakness and turn it to our advantage.

We are a stepping stone for players to go on to greater things........Horray!
We are happy to sell and thank all our players for the great service they have given the club.............Horray!
We would be delighted for them to come back at any time.....................Horray!

At no point in that post did I mention the media or opposing fans and what they think. I said that teams will look straight at us when they need a player and will see us as as a team that'll eventually roll over and sell them. By Levy doing what he did last summer he's put an end to that (to an extent) and made teams think twice before looking to buy a player from us.

"I only want what's best for Spurs.

This is the part I completely disagree with. You've said you only want what's best for Spurs (obviously) but we're never going to make that progression into a top team by selling all our star players, especially not to the teams competing around us. We don't have the financial power to go out and replace a Bale/Modric with someone of a similar ability, but instead have to look at getting in young players with the potential to be as good as them. Which sets us back a few years in the process, as we've seen before. The cycle goes on and on, which is what Levy's trying to put an end to now.

It's a matter of principles. If we'd have accepted Chelsea's bid last season we'd have only further enhanced our reputation as a selling club, and what would happen next year when Chelsea decide they need a new left winger? Oh, we'll go and get Gareth Bale, Spurs will sell him, they always do.

Gotta say, I fail to see how selling our best players whenever they want to leave is 'long term'. If you could explain that then that'd be nice. Disrupting the team year upon year and rebuilding is hardly setting a platform for the future.

Porto sell their best players year after year...............it doesn't seem to disrupt them.

Porto are the biggest and best team in Portugal with CL revenue coming in every season. We aren't and do not have CL revenues year in year out. They can afford to cherry pick the best players in Portugal. We cannot.

Interesting. Real get no heat for trying to low-ball us and not pay the valuation we have him down for. This would happen in a day if those cheap dicks just ponied up the cash they steal from the Spanish public. We're asking about the equivalent of Xabi who was older when he went and they have offered less than they paid for Coentrao

To quote what I just posted on my facebook.

"Kranjcar can fuck off, Spurs gave him a chance in the EPL and he failed at taking the opportunity. Even th
ough he is best friends with Modric, that isn't the point, Modric can make up his own decisions, not listen to what people like failed premier league footballers tell him to do so. The sooner the big-headed ego maniac is out of our club the better. Rant over."

You can only beat what is in front of you.

Arsenal have had Champions league money for the past 15 years but to you they too are a selling club.

How much do Porto sell their players for? That's right, the release clause valuation.

Do you think they would sell us Moutinho for 15m if he wanted to go? Fuck no. What you're saying we should do is sell our best players at a cut price just to get rid of them. I am so glad you're not running the club.

Oh, Kranjcar... if you were a handsome lady you could get away with that... but being a handsome man makes it even less likely, I'm afraid.

Enjoy the harsh Ukrainian winter Niko. If any player was destined to fall apart in those conditions it will be you.

I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy getting paid millions of pounds for doing practically f*ck all as much as you would have liked and apologise on behalf of my club for not letting you move on at well under your asking price.

So you want us to be a stepping stone for players to build up their careers and leave as soon as a bigger club comes sniffing around! I think it sends a strong message out that players will get sold on our terms and not theirs and any player not wanting to come to the club for that reason can do one anyway. We are building something here and don't need any mercenaries interested solely in their own careers.

Mid table sentimentality. Sorry Stemark44, but it is...

At some point you have to switch that round if you want to play with the big boys. We used that tactic to get to the table, but to stay there and reach the head seat, you gotta play by their rules. Our valuation for players we are willing to sell is very clear and I don't ever hear of us doing things like moving the goalposts (valuation wise), unlike say Lyon for lloris or a few years back for some russian fella who went to some other london team.

If a club meets the valuation we set, then they are free to go. AND THAT IS EXACTLY how Porto for example operate and is the reason we are struggling to get Moutinho (by all accounts) and why no one has purchased Hulk.

As others have said, if you value Modric at say 35m and Real Madrid offer 27m, do you just accept that because it's Real Madrid? We should be grateful to them?? Errr what?

Look it's 35m or it's no deal, end of. Offer 33m and maybe we'll talk, but so low? Again, if we did that then what we are saying is: all of our players are valued at x, but are willing to really let them go for x-20%, especially if the player wants to leave.

No, sorry, just no. What's next? Bale to Barcelona for 15m?

Some players are not going to like it, I am sure, but the chairman must always do what is right for the club, especially financially and whilst there is more to it than that, if you can't see that in order to compete at the top we need to start behaving like a winning club, then you need to start looking at how businesses and sport are run... unless you are over the top oil rich, winners behave like winners before they win, that's why they win.

wouldn't surprise me if Luka's agent was behind Kranjcar coming out with those comments, the comments don't paint us in a good light though

He hasn't refused to sell him, he wants to sell him, just at a sensible price, not for the peanuts offered. Media trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill.
