I'm sure there was no buy back.
The article is completely opposite to Ornstein anyway, says they need competition for him because of Livramento's injury.

Starting to look like a really poor decision to a) give him so few oppourtunities and b) sell him for only £12m. Honestly, since Walker left, we've flogged Trippier, KWP, Foyth and Aurier, and all of them are probably better than Royal and at least competition for Doherty - hopefully we finally resolve it this summer.

Think we should at least show some interest to reduce Gibson’s leverage.

Only one of those players is a Conte typical wingback - Aurier. I doubt still Conte would have had him as first choice.

Trippier lacks the physicality, Foyth is a RCB, and KWP seems more unsure of himself than Sessegnon did last season

KWP is one hundred percent a wingback, great dribbler and crosser

Not a poor decision as the decision makers at the time had a different vision.
Post full of hindsight!

I don’t get why we aren’t interested he would be club trained for uefa

Also has that rare ability of staying fit

I don’t think he is good enough for a top 4 side/challenging side. He is pretty
Light weight, not blisteringly fast and is a steady player - we want something a bit better than that.

I agree he's a wingback but I don't see him as a Conte wingback.

Strong and able to attack the back post with power to finish moves

Aurier hasn't got the brains to play in a Conte side such is his indiscipline - Trippier would work and KWP would flourish in the system and has just had an outstanding for Southampton culminating in getting into an England squad
