Pretty gutted about this one tbh! One thing selling the best right back in the league but to sell him to Man City just makes me feel sick I think I hate them as much as I hate arsenal and Chelsea their fans are all arseholes and are one again going to buy the premier league I'm becoming increasingly frustrated and disillusioned with football and the fees these days! just hope poch has an ace up his sleeve because to me this is madness if we have to sell him sell him abroad not to a team we are in direct competition with this deal to me smells of arsenal all over selling to a direct rival aka van persie, Ashley Cole really went well selling them didn't it

I think we'll be fine as long as we re-invest the funds.

Let's get Pereira in now and if we can't seal that one then let's just place our trust in KWP. I don't want Adam Smith or any other mediocre option.

It's disappointing that he's going to a rival, but we do need to accept that there's not much else we can do in the situation.

Walker knew he could probably more than double his wages at City. If we'd matched that offer for him, we'd then have ultimately had to do the same thing for every player.

So assuming that's not an option, if Kyle wants to chase the money (as is his right) we simply need to get as much money for him as possible. We're not a rich enough club (yet) where we can just leave a £50m asset to sit on the bench whilst we wait for an appropriate buyer, and I think if the £55m figure is accurate we'll have got over market value for him.

We've got a ready made replacement, and lots of cash to buy another right back if we want one, so overall I don't think it'll hurt us too much.

The problem will be if this triggers other departures, but there's no reason to assume that will happen at the moment.

What did we pay for him....4.5M. Not a bad return really. My issue is helping a rival not selling him if Poch thinks he's replaceable. (I have my doubts about that by the way as I think Trippier has issues defensively). But as someone pointed out, Walker's chief asset is pace and those types tend to decline and get injured as they get into their late 20s. Now, think about Kyle Walker without pace. Decent defensively, adds nothing offensively, and he makes dumb decisions occasionally. We would need to replace him in a couple of years anyway.

All I can think of with this transfer saga is Bohemian Rhapsody...

Walker: "Easy come, easy go, will you let me go"
Levy: "We will not let you go"
Walker: "Let me go"
Levy: "Will not let you go... No no no no no o"

City: "£50 million"
Levy: "Fuck yeah, now we'll let him go"

Chances are next summer Citeh's attention will be distracted by someone even shinier and Walker will end up getting a move to someone like West Ham, Everton or Newcastle.

It's not ideal. But neither is having a disruptive presence in the club.

It's no secret that we have massively punched above our weight the last two seasons; you can suggest that our quality in coaching and the team mentality has helped us do this.

If Walker has made it clear he wants to leave, our options are we put our foot down and say 'no'. He may get his head down and get on with the job, but the final performances of last season didn't suggest this to be likely to be the case. Pochettino wants everyone pulling in the same direction.

Or, we sell him at a premium given we have a ready made replacement who we know can do a job on the wing, who's been patient and, as we've seen can improve under Pochettino. We can and no doubt will invest some of this money on identifying a replacement and perhaps to strengthen our attack.

Sad for sentimental reasons and that Walker is brilliant, but not the end of the world!

A very valid point, and although not much needs doing, that doesn't mean we can afford to fart around and have a timid and weak window. Players do want to see a degree of ambition.

Let's trim the fat a little by getting shot of Sissoko, focus on bringing in a couple of good quality attacking players and then offer some fair wage increases to our top players.

If it has strengthened them.

They just got rid of all their RB's (who were shit) and just signed the leagues best RB. I think it's safe to say we've strengthened them. Not only strengthened but probably given them their ideal player in that he doesn't need any bedding in time to get used to the league. We couldn't even stall it till deadline day and let him have a full pre season.

You could be right, there's always a chance he might find Peps tactics hard to deal with or might just struggle in general but I'd say that's quite a small chance.

He was the League's best right back playing for Spurs under Poch. In the words of the Fresh Prince, his life just got 'flipped turned upside down'. If he's still the League's best right back this time next year I'll be prepared to say I'm wrong, not a problem.
