If BT don't use the stereotypical Spanish tapas restaurant studio set and Scott Minto then BT can piss off.

When I can afford it I'll subscribe to BT for football and NBA but I'm disappointed that Sky have seemingly pulled out, that means no more Revista. :(

BT should try and get the former La Liga host on Sky who quit because he wasn't a yes man, I've forgotten his name...

Just bought BT Sport for one year only, apparently they will get La Liga for the cheap because Sky just pulled out so BT don't need to make a big offer- so hopefully they won't increase the price. I don't think they will because that way they can draw more customers towards them while still promoting the 'Free with BT TV' stuff.

Surely this must singal the begging of the end for Sky Sports re football, what other leagues will they show? BT already have Italy, France and Germany (I think?). Not that I subscribe to either, more of a streaming guy, but was thinking of committing to one this season... Looks like BT will be the way to go.

The only reason to keep Sky now is for the Premier League then, unless you're into other sports such as F1, golf, cricket and rugby. Most people would be, I love Sky for the golf coverage, but again, it's not as if I can't stream it via iPad or laptop.

Do ITV still have any rights to CL?

Seeing how BT have recognised the popularity of the Football Weekly podcast I'd be amazed if they don't have Sid Lowe and his dog providing the analysis

Doesn't the whole issue of competition need reviewing? There isn't no competition from a consumer perspective. That would require the ability to watch the same game on different channels and not have exclusive rights for leagues or games. Yes clubs might recieve less money as a consequence but a lot of the cash seems to be pumped into inflated transfer fees and higher wages. I would rather football was more accessible for everyone.

This does exist but only for domestic competitions (league, FA cup)

Sky have thrown money towards getting the MLS rights rather than committing to champions league and La Liga.

Interesting considering this time last year they were trying to sell 2-year contracts on the back of being "the home of European football"

The MLS is a cheap schedule filler, it's not a replacement for anything.

Overall losing La Liga won't make a difference to their business and there's still enough there for me but their sports portfolio has definitely taken a big hit and they need to find a way to fill the now vacant slots in the schedule with something other than football.

They made valid points for not being disappointed about being outbid for the Champions League but it still hurts them and they have to change their approach. I hope they use all this free time to further improve their football coverage, only MNF is consistently excellent, the rest vary depending on the host, guests and Liverpool bias.

On the flip side how are BT going to manage all the game clashes every weekend?

Neville and Carragher have impressed me and add very good insight into the finer details that are often overlooked (particular favourite was the in depth look at man to man vs zonal marking at corners and set pieces - v sad I know ha ha) but the thing that screams out is the time they put into working off screen.

But Jamie Redknapp & Thierry Henry are truly terrible and don't add anything outside of bog standard clichés and smug smiles

Henry is weird, I thought he was a good pundit during the last World Cup although he was with Seedoorf then.

Maybe he should spend some time on MNF and get away from Redknapp.

Looks like TV right for La Liga might be going to BT Sport after Sky pull out of the bidding process.

Hurrah, that's great news: whilst their PL coverage is always dull, their European league coverage is excellent and they always have pundits who know their stuff. Always puzzles me that they can get AC Jimbo and James Horncastle on talking about Serie A in an intelligent, entertaining way...and then turn up such dross for the domestic stuff.

La Liga is great for watching Villarreal, Valencia Athletic and Seville games.
I only watch Barca and RM when they play each other any other game they play in are preordained due to the financial
doping. I wonder how long Athletic can keep afloat for again they owe mega amounts from their last borrowing binge?

Didn't valencia get bought out and the owner cleared the debts?
