Should we be shitting ourselves a little bit ?

This fella is the richest man in europe and in the top 4/6 in the world.

I was also amused to read the amount that Briatore, Ecclestone and Mittal paid for their shares. (OK they did have to underwrite 14 mil of debt but that's not exactly going to make those three blink twice is it ?).

I doubt it would make them blink once.

QPR could be the biggest club in West London soon.

So will I, got loads of QPR mates and it's been so easy to keep them quiet for ages! I will save an extra special Nelson style 'Ha-ha!' for a mate of mine who defected from QPR to Chelsea when they got relegated, mug

And a 5 year up to £20 mill kit contract with Lotto Italia is not to be sniffed at either.

Come to think of it didn't Kelmsley put some money or guarantees that way last year ?

Mittal, Briatore and Ecclestone eh? Not much short of cash then?!

I'm going to stop buying Mittal steel at work if they get any good - that'll learn 'em!

Interesting to see what they do there.

To get them into the PL will cost them literally peanuts, but what do they do when they get there? They have a small fan base, probably on a par with Fulham, so if they really want to aim high then they will in no way be self sufficient, and if they are really genuine, then they could end up with losses on a par with Fayed or Abramovich.

Now I don't know much about Mittal, but I don't think Briatore is worth THAT much (maybe a couple of £100m? at the most), and whilst Ecclestone is, he doesn't come across as the sort to throw money away on a football club.

I'm not sure if their fanbase is as small as Fulhams, I meet a very high percentage of QPR fans. Although their ground is in a reasonable walking distance from my house... Still, I reckon there will be a good number crawling out from under the rocks in the next few years. And with this area having so many immigrants who love to jump on a bandwagon their continued support will gather pace.

Must be something in it for someone, Ecclestone was expected to buy into Arsenal but went West instead.

The ground is supposed to be worth £24 mill but there are covenants on
over-developing the site. Must be another angle somewhere

Now I don't know much about Mittal...

4th richest man in the world with an estimated worth of $45b. Which makes Abramovic look small fry and Chelsea's losses look like small change.

OK they may not be as small as Fulham, but if they are serious about Europe and all that it is going to take an awful lot of money, between them they have it, but are they prepared to lose it.

I seem to remember Al Fayed talking about making Fulham the Man U of the South, it took him a few years in the PL to realise how much it costs though.

I'm sure it has absolutely nothing to do with location or the huge new shopping centre that is about to open just across the road :)

Do you think its a good idea to buy QPR shares then?

Could be a good return if they are flying in the EPL in a couple of years.

Briatore's estimated worth is only (yes I say only ) around $150 million according to forbes but, that hardly matters when between Mittal and Ecclestone are worth a combined $35.6 billion so as long as Briatore has there money behind him it really doesn't matter. Although the last transfer window was interesting as they only bought experienced championship players.

I don't doubt he has the money, but would be be prepared to take the hit that he surely would if he were to try and make QPR top 6 material in the PL?

At the moment I think Abramovich is about £500m down

If he really is worth $45b he can buy any club he likes?

I suppose it will become evident in time.

Well, unless he's a tight sod he can certainly afford to without hesitation. It's essentially chump change to him. And i'm sure they can go about it a lot more frugally than Chelsea too.

Nidge, according to Forbes, Mittal is worth $45b and Ecclestone $3.7b, as of this month.

Fair enough. I am guessing that my forbes data is older than that.

Mittal supposedly spent £330 million on his daughters wedding so cash shouldn't be too tight.

Plus the Labour party donations have greased a few wheels in the right places.

They might get into the Prem in a few years but after that I can't really see them being much of a threat. Would like them to do well though as I've got lots of family that support them and they're probably my second team. Going to watch them next week so I'll report back if they actually look any good.

My younger Sister was a season ticket holder at Loftus Rd for many years like in their glory days when they came runners up to Liverpool and later runners up to us in the FAC, but when she moved to Cambs she packed it in and had four kids instead.

When I speak to her on the phone I always say "and what about QPR-nil?" cos thats what I used to hear about them.
