When a player joins a club they will find out about it from players they know that have played there. If the player turns around and says don't go there it may effect their decision.
Saw a video of a player at atletico (sorry can't remember his name) who was leaving. The fans met him at the gates of the training ground and were cheering him. He started crying as he was overcome with emotion. When other players ask him about atletico what do you think he'll tell them? Compared to if they ask jenas about spurs?

Why is jenas a bad choice? His agent will represent other players. If they ask him what spurs is like how will he remember us? Will bale remember when some of our fans wanted to get rid of him when he was younger and thought of him as a jonah?
How will bentaleb feel in a few years? Will he remember how we treated sherwood the man who gave him a chance and was his mentor?

As i said earlier. Sandro went back to brazil when he was injured. Players will use an injury as a mini holiday.
