He's starting to show the confidence and ability he had at Roma.
As long he stays injury free, a few fans and pundits alike will be eating humble pie.
Never in doubt for me, 15 goals from the wing at 20, these players don't come along very often.

Lamela is still developing, and the exciting aspect is you see him working on it - he is looking to take charge on the pitch - he is not quite there, but you see glimpses, and I love that he is constantly moving and demanding the ball - he is not shirking away from the spotlight.

He will be a galactico someday...with any luck, we will have the financial wherewithal to make it happen here.

If he was playing for any of the top 6 we would be calling him a flop especially for the price we paid

Even if we assumed that to be true, it doesn't make it right but just highlights the tribalism within football and how it supersedes logic.

The jury's not out - he is quality.

Not £30m quality yet, you're right, but he's a handful of games into his Spurs career and he's already looking better than anyone else in the squad.

Oh and he cost £25.7m, let's not feed the Sky/MotD price myths eh? ;)

I don`t agree that he is our best player on currently form and he is not yet a £25.7 player he needs to affect the game more to justify that valuation... But thats not his fault and I see some improvement each game which is encouraging.

On a positive note Chadli, Capoue, Rose have also stepped up from last season and Dembele looks stronger, quicker and more attacking which I am really pleased about. Hopefully we can get Paulinho and Soldado to up their games and we will be in business ;)

On current form he has won 3 MOTM awards.
So I would say he is our current in form player.

I've been very impressed with him since pre season

One thing I've noticed though is he spends a bit too long doing tricks in front of a player without passing them and ends up playing a sideways pass to a player instead

Not that this isn't useful too - it lead to the Erkisen goal on the weekend but I'd like to see him moving at speed and taking players on a bit more like he did vs QPR rather than doing a few step overs and not taking on his man before laying it off

I also think he'll be a great source of goals this season along with Erkisen and Chadli (I expect double figures from all three is they play consistently through out the year) we just need that prolific striker to make our attack truly dangerous

I think maybe it's still a confidence thing or being a bit unsure of himself so he's over thinking it.

I think once he scores a goal or beats a man while on the run he will become a force. You can tell in the clips posted above the defenders are already unsure when he has the ball.

My main issue with the Chadli - Eriksen - Lamela trio is that currently only Lamela has the potential ability to dribble and go past people, Eriksen is a passer and Chadli more of a finisher. This could end up being the perfect blend once Lamela finds his feet but I just wonder if we need more pace or directness amongst the 3. We'll have to see how it plays out.

If he remains injury free will have a good year and should be with us next season.......suspect season after may be in Spain for one of the big boys.....though would love him to be with us when the new stadium opens and have a player of the year season!

I have no doubt he has the ability to beat defenders - in full flight against QPR he was passing them for fun

Chadli too I think is capable - he showed some very good strength and explosive power to force his way through 2/3 defenders and on to the loose ball in the box on Saturday

yes Eriksen is a passer, but he also did some great work intercepting and breaking up the opponents play against Sunderland as well as showing that Lampard like ability to arrive late in the box and be a goal threat (not just when he scored)

I think the three of them make a nice blend - although I envisage in the next window or two Poch looking still to upgrade the LWF position if he can get JRod or another of his targets with Chadli becoming more of a rotation cover (and lets not forget Paulinho returning) with possibly one or both of Lennon and Townsend being moved on to make space

It's key in my eyes to get a striker who can really be the focal point of our attack - whether one of our own steps up and becomes that guy or we have to bring someone new in, its such a key area we must improve on

One of the things that intrigues me most about Lamela is that he is unlike any player I can remember in a Spurs shirt. I've been a season ticket holder since 1978 (Ossie arrival). It's exciting that we may see another special player evolve and yet be so different from the stars of the past.

I would like to think that this is one of the reasons why we're such a great club to support. We always seem to find a few gems to enjoy and be the envy of others.

Which recent performances? Liverpool and West Ham?

I know he played well against QPR and not bad against Sunderland but his performances are still mixed for me. However it is better than last season. He is still young and effectively its really his first season.

I am reserving my judgement on him till I have seen a lot more of him.

Well, QPR, Sunderland and Limossol. We've played 5 games and he's been either MOM or close to it in 3 of those games. You call that mixed performances, but I'd say that that is actually pretty consistent. Certainly, he's been our best player this season I would say. I agree that we'll need to see a lot more of him, but to be fair, I don't think he can do much more at this stage.

Not really before he got injured he play 16 times and scored 6 goals

We over paid heavily, baldini helping out his old club.

So few words, yet you manage to demonstrate so much bullshit, I'm not even angry. I'm impressed.

Ignoring the claim that Baldini could somehow fool Levy and literally everyone else at the club into over paying for a player in order to "help out his old club" - and when I say "ignoring" I mean, laughing hysterically in the face of that claim... ignoring that, have you been asleep for 10 years and have no relevant concept of the transfer market?

We paid 30 million for one of South America's most highly rated youngsters, a player who Totti identified as his heir, a player who at 21 lit up Serie A and was forcing his way into an Argentina squad already leaden with world class attackers. He is clearly a special player. Every manager and player who works with him has said so.

If you don't think 30 million is at least a fair price, if not, a shrewd piece of business, you must have swallowed your tongue when Carrol was bought by Liverpool.

You don't rate him, but Jesus Christ, the hyperbole is ridiculous.

Will he play in the Europa this week? I'm hoping not as I think we need him in the league.
