He threw himself about today. If he keeps doing that, the results will speak for themselves.

There was a glimpse of his talents again today its just frustrating.
The moment he skipped passed 3 players all he had to do was give it simple but instead he went to try the hard pass just to make himself look good I feel for him

It is infuriating. He seems to have got worse on the ball the longer he's been here. Either our training regime is excelling itself in terms of retarding the development of world class talent, or the lad's confidence is just completely shot. Probably a little bit of both tbh.

Just started a thread with this...but felt this table could be deemed as appropriate for this thread. Not claiming that it shows he has been putting excellent displays in, but despite a couple of poor, although hard working, displays- across the whole season he has not been shit.

He simply doesn't warrant a place in the team at the moment.

Whether he ever makes it in this league is open to debate, but we can't afford to nurse him.

This is where the 'assist' notion comes a little bit grey round the edges. Unfortunately this table is straw clutching.

Do we know what his 4 assists are out of curiosity? Would assume one was the corner that Dier scored from?

Yes, one would be a corner-which is where Eriksens one assist in all competitions comes from as well.

Both were very good crosses, with very good finishes.

I didn't ask about Eriksen.

What were his others? Have to watch the Dier one again, remember it as a usual 'wasn't going to beat the first man corner' that was turned in. Not a great assist. Could be wrong though.

We used to do these tables for Crouch a few years back, strangely they never received the same amount of blind support/optimism.

Another was a corner at Villa Park - for Chadli's goal?

Chadli's second against QPR...and the corner at Villa Park for Chadli's goal IIRC.

Not sure what the issue is for counting a corner as an assist especially since we are so shit at them. The kid has started how many EPL games since he has been here? And people are wanting to get rid so quickly, it's laughable and nearly as laughable as Liverpool fans wanting rid of all their summer signings.

People need patience, we criticise the Chairman for having no patience with the Manager, but here we are as supporters having no patience for players.

I dont think he has received much blind support on the back of his stats, In fact it has people attacking him for being our second most productive player because they are not the right assists/goals or in the 'wrong' competitions.

I actually think it has gone the other way, and it is blind negativity around Lamela now. Refusing to accept any good aspect of his game.

In fact my words were, 'he has not been shit', because you do know tehre is a difference between brilliant and shit and there is space in between both extremes?

It just happens to be that many fans are sensationalist and impatient , with little sense of perspective.

He'll have my support wholeheartedly, I'm going to be ultra patient with him. But in terms of yesterdays performance I thought it was a poor one, gave the ball away too much, and in dangerous positions.

That's just calling it the way I see it, no agenda whatsoever as I like him and have defended him in here regularly. We need to be careful of not going to the other extreme either, ie not being objective because we're desperate to see him succeed.

He assisted Chadli's goal in the NLD

Agree, and its not the lads fault. But we couldnt really afford to spent £30m or whatever it was on a player that MIGHT be top drawer in a few years.

We need better players now and we did when Bale left, we we not in a position where we could replace quality with potential and I think Lamela has suffered for this with the fans.

Shits wrong.

Very awkward - struggling - weak.

On the positive side he has some loyal fans.
