This post, for sure i don't have %100 facts about deals, but let's look at our last three transfer window:
- How much these transfers cost us ?
- Where did the club spend the money ?
- What about our net spend ?

Summer 2007
in: Gareth Bale intial £5m + Taraabt £3m + Kaboul £7m + Darren Bent £16m + Boateng £5.4m = nearly £40m with Bale future payments
out:Mido £6.5m + Ziegler £1m + Murphy £1m = Total: £8.5m
Net spend: around £32m

Winter 2008
in:Gunter £2m + Hutton £8m + Woodgate £7.5m + Gilberto £1.9m (LB) = Total: £20m
out:Defoe £9m + Routledge £1.5m = Total: £10.5m
Net spend: around £10m

Summer 2008
in: Luka Modric £16.5m + Giovani Dos Santos £4.7m + Gomes £8m + David Bentley £15m + Sanchez £0.3m + Bostock £0.7m + Pavyluchenko £14m + Corluka £8.5m + Campbell loan = Total: £68m
out: Cerny Free + Sunderland trio £18m + Lee £0.7m + Robinson £3.5m + Robbie Keane £19 + Berbatov £30.75m = Total: nearly £72m
Net spend: might be profit £4m ( without future payments for Giovani and Bostock )

1- Kaboul, looks the only player who we brought and sold in the time. considering we paid around £7m and sold three players in big deal, I won't include £7m in next 2 & 3.

2- We paid around £121m for 15 player ( permanent signings ) plus Campbell, in time we recevied £84m. This mean our net spend £37m in last three transfer window

3- our average spend on one player ( each signing ) is £8m. And our average spend is £12.5m for each transfer window.

I think have Bale, Woodgate, Gomes, Modric & Corluka are the best signings in that bunch and those that have without a doubt improved our squad / first 11.

Basically, all the others...im not really sure what they have added, and if we have become better off by signing them and selling previous players.

I have done my voting. there is however a difference between a good signing and a needed signing. Good signings are players like Modric, Woodgate, Corluka etc... Needed signings are Sanchez (we needed a number 2 as Cerney had gone) Campbell (need i say more) and in a way the same goes for Pav. Other players are good signings because we got them and no one else did, i think Bale falls into this area as does Bostock and GDS. They have promise and may well become good signings.

lool if forgot him but the most important thing is 'how we spend our money in last 3 transfer windows?' :wink:

the last three windows have been hit and miss - but the key thing is they helped lead to our first trophy in nine years (woodgate gets the winner - hutton helps as did Bale v boro - probably someone else from the recently transferred played a part too)

this trophy qualified us for Europe for third year in a row - probably helps a bit to getting players like Gomes and Modric

they in turn with other transferees are proving crucial to helping us stay in the prem (the most important thing for us this season) and leading yet another assault on the cups

so overall we've done ok in the last 3 windows - but of course could have done considerably better
