Late Goals - A Common Theme

This past week has been mostly enjoyable after the doom and gloom of the first 8 games of the season.

Particularly the last two games against Arsenal and Liverpool where late goals have changed the outcome and given us points.

This hasn't always been the way with Spurs who in the past have had a habit of losing concentration and goals in the latter stages.

Whlist the Ramos regime has taken a lot of stick one thing he and his group of coaches seem to have done is sorted out diets and trained the players to a level that ensures they have the stamina and fitness to keep going for 95 minutes in each game.

I realise it may be a little premature, but to hear that Harry has put Tomato Ketchup back on the players menu just makes me wonder whether we are about to stop benefiting from the previous regimes disciplines. Hope I'm wrong.

And the players were also complaining about constantly being hungry and under nourished.

So they aren't on some special, strict diet now. No other team in the league were on such a diet, and they seem to be coping well enough. Just because they actually get to enjoy some of their food now, doesn't mean they're gonna suddenly turn into a team of lumps. Afterall, they are still training hard almost every day.

Did we benefit at all from Ramos' diet? were the players really fat before he turned up? Apart from Huddlestone I didn't noticde ANY difference in the players. I'm of the opinion it was all spin and bullshit to justify the hamfisted sacking of Jol and get the fans on board quickly.

Ramos' pre-seasons are a thing of legend. Fergie was more than happy for Berba to go through one, knowing he'd be in great shape.

We're definitely a fitter team now than we were a year ago.

I would much rather win a game in the last minute than win 3-0...there is no feeling like it in the world..i was at the Emirates and the Lane last night and truly 2 minutes that i will never forget!! Lennon and Pav...superb

The diet (or at least what was reported) was always crackpot.

Its also a fallacy imo that we were any fitter. I would like to see stats of when goals where scored under Jol and when they were scored under Ramos....I cant imagine there was that much of a difference.

A number of players looked right out of shape under Ramos too including Bentley and Pav and Dawson got ill from the diet.

Its also worth keeping in mind that focusing so heavily on fitness in training comes at a cost both in terms of morale and technical ability.
