What does every1 think of the squad thats been picked.
I personally think theres glaring mistakes in it.
Not just the players picked. But positions as well.
Think this the weakest squad we have had and question the likes of picking Walcott ahead of Owen. I like the inclusion of bullard except it should of been in the previous squad to see how he played in a friendly first. No Young Again.
Bit of a rant i know.

From a Spurs point of view, Im a bit shocked that Woody was left out. Maybe the Hudd deserved a chance with the absence of Gerrard, Hargreaves etc

Oh well, no risk of injury, which is good.

What has Walcott done to deserve a call up?? He certainly hasn't been playing well, in fact he has rarely played that well for Woolwich as they always play him out wide. Owen should have been in, although not the player he was loves playing for England and can always come up with important goals. No Woody?? is he injured? Ashley Young should defo be in the squad. I recognise that Bridge is the second best English LB but he has played around 10 minutes this season and walks into the squad. Do not fancy our chances in Croatia thats for sure

Woody should've been in over Upson
Owen over Walcott
Agbonlahor and Young should both have been in, but I can only find one person to push out in their case, Downing.

For those who haven't seen it and are too lazy to google it:

Robert Green (West Ham)
David James (Portsmouth)
Paul Robinson (Blackburn)
Wayne Bridge (Chelsea)
Ashley Cole (Chelsea)
Rio Ferdinand (Man Utd)
Glen Johnson (Portsmouth)
John Terry (Chelsea)
Wes Brown (Man Utd)
Joleon Lescott (Everton)
Matthew Upson (West Ham)
Gareth Barry (Aston Villa)
Frank Lampard (Chelsea)
Jimmy Bullard (Fulham)
David Beckham (LA Galaxy)
Jermaine Jenas (Spurs)
Joe Cole (Chelsea)
David Bentley (Spurs)
Stewart Downing (Boro)
Theo Walcott (Arsenal)
Wayne Rooney (Man Utd)
Emile Heskey (Wigan)
Jermain Defoe (Portsmouth)

I'm proper pleased for Jimmy Bullard - might not be as talented or super-famous or glamorous as some of the players in the premier league but he loves his football and always gives everything he's got. Good on him, he's a dude

Dunno why he's got Wes "baked bean" Brown in there, he's one of the over-rated casualties from Sven's desperate search for more defenders and has never seemed like England quality to me. Gerrard injured? Don't see why fatty would get the nod over him on current form.

How many goals does Robbo have to conceed to be dropped? Pleased for Defoe, hope he gets a start with Owen out of favour.
Just imagine the changing room at training. Bullard interrupting Beckham's anecdote about a BBQ at Tom Cruise's with his latest fishing story.

Player I am most pleased for on that list is Jimmy Bullard.

Fair play to the lad and after all his injuries he deserves it. Considering he started his career at Gravesend & Northfleet (Now Ebbsfleet Utd) It just shows what talent and hard can do.

Garrard is indeed injured and didn't play for the red scouse today.

How come Ashley Young and Gabriel Agbonlahor aren't in the squad?

Good news for Spurs - I'm happy our CBs are staying at the Lodge.

Great news for Croatia - if Capello thinks those are the best 20-odd available English players, he's been smoking something funny.

Can't say I agree with the squad myself. From a Spurs point of view I'm happy as I think if Woodagte isn't going to play (unlikely anyone will play ahead of Rio and Terry) then I'd rather he stayed home. I'm hoping Bentley can cement his place as Beckhams full time successor and Jenas can only gain form being in the squad.

I hope Micah Richards has matured a bit now and hopefully he is now ready to be recalled to the full squad. He's certainly more talented than Wes Brown and if he is strong enough mentally that can only be a good thing for England. Not too worried about Ashley Young not making the squad though. Two left side midfielders is enough and Downing is also impressing so it was one or the other.

The choice of strikers is most worrying to me though. If the manager is only going to choose 4 strikers then they all need to be the best we have and offer a variety of options. Walcott should be in the U21s, he simply isn't ready to be making an impact at the highest level. Agbonlahor, Owen or Crouch are all much better options.

Apparently Capello is a genius though so hopefully now it really matters he'll get the results needed.

How come Ashley Young and Gabriel Agbonlahor aren't in the squad?

Because Heskey and Walcott are clearly capable of much better... :bang:

And Upson and Brown ahead of Woodgate? Beckham ahead of SWP? If Capello was actually getting us to play well then his rather curious squad selections could be excused...

I am disappointed to see Agbonlahor is not there, but I think England are shit no matter who they call up. They are a team of individuals who have poor technique and can not keep possession.

Downing deserves to be in it, he's been excellent so far.

Heskey has been playing amazing for Wigan, good shout for him, always felt he done well for England. Surprised about the Villa duo, would have been a good mix, and I hope that Bent continues his scoring for us, I feel he would be great for england.

What an awful piece of squad selection! Capello is an idiot!

No Agbonlahor, Young, Woodgate, Owen but there is Upson, Bridge, Lescott and Walcott. What a joke. lescott is shit at centre-back, Bridge never plays, Walcott never starts and Upson is average.

Agbonlahor has played really well, as has Young and Woodgate. Owen has scored more then Walcott, so wtf?

On SSN last night when going through the squad they did say Woody was injured, whether they just made that up i dont know. But i am pretty sure Fabio sees him as first back up to the untouchable Rio and Terry.

I'd rather have both Woody and Ledders training together for 2 weeks than one of them sodding off to play for England!
