Have we actually had any proper links to him this summer? Can’t remember any…
This really, some don’t rate him some do but ultimately the only link we’ve had is a very tentative one from a rather meh source (Ben Jacobs) and then hoping or assuming (depending on your opinion of him) it’s one of the two targets WLB alluded to in his last ITK. He already pretty much said Dusan is the other.

For me tho is pretty much moot. I very much doubt we spend anything over £50 mil on any one player, be that Dusan or Lautaro or Chiesa or Eze or any other big name we have been linked to. I have been fairly sure for a while our one attacking addition will be Orban and unless his price rises significantly in the next week or so I don’t see that changing.

We as a club just don’t buy established players unless there are extenuating circumstances making them less expensive like with Maddison or VdV (however long ago that was). I’m really hoping levy surprises me but at this point I think our Kane “replacement” was Maddison.

Much rather take a chance on Marcos Leonardo. He just has that movement that is difficult to teach and he has just scored from it.

Think we really need a player who is close to breaking through as opposed to an expensive type we may get stuck with should it not work.

He’s been on fire lately. I can’t say I’d seen much of him before but have been trying to watch as much as I can recently and I’m impressed tbh. According to some of the Spurs “ITK” on twitter he’s a back up option to Orban. He certainly looks like one of those players that could break through soon. But most of my knowledge of him comes from scout reports and the odd game, you would certainly know better than me.

Someone like him or Orban is much much more likely than a Dusan or a Lautaro.

I can't see Martinez being sold. He's just been named the Inter captain. Would be very odd if they then sold him. Plus haven't we learnt our lesson from Bastoni saga.

I’d rather have a player who was great for his club side but shit at the World Cup than the other way around.

Ben Jacobs says on The Last Word that we really love Lautaro but Inter won’t sell this summer. But he suggest, probably more opinion, that we might choose to hold of on a striker if we believe a better option will come up in a future window. He obviously mentions Ivan Tony as well as someone we might wait for in Jan.

Just complete guesswork from BJ.
