Though it was half expected, reading the headline on espn sent a shiver down my spine and made my eyes well up..

Our own one-club man in this day and age and a beautiful player.

Ladies and gentlemen......... THE KING!

What a legend this player has been for us. There's not really much that can be said that hasn't already but i'll always remember Ledley as one of my all time favourites at the Lane. I wouldn't be exagerating if I said we should get a statue of him outside the new Stadium.

So sad my favourite ever Tottenham Hotspur player my idol for the past 10 years! The reason i play centre back! and ironically badly badly injured my left knee which has resulted in me having no ligaments or cartilage!

The greatest ever player i have seen play for us in my 21 years of watching us!

Thank you Ledley King! you are a true legend of Tottenham Hotspur FC! Sorry it didnt last as long as it should injuries ruined something that could have been so great! Thank you for putting your body and future health on the line for Tottenham Hotspur. Thank you for the memories and lets prey this is not the last time we see you associated with this club and hopefully one day you will make it as a manger!

Sad, sad day! I remember when Spurs Youth Members used to get invited to a day playing football before getting to meet the players. Every group of kids was given a player from the youth team to accompany them around all the stations (heading, volleys etc etc...) Who did my group get? The King. Even being a 8/9 year old i remember how kind and encouraging he was.

After that i got to meet Gary Mabbut and my head nearly exploded.

In US sports the clubs retire the shirts of legendary players and put the number up in the ground, so everyone visiting sees it. I'd like to see us start this trend here beginning with Ledder's number. The guy is truly a legend.

I hope the club does something special to honour him. A stand, a statue or retiring the shirt.

Ledders was world class and i'm privilaged to have witnessed him in action in our colours.
Hope if we win any trophies next season they let him and new captain do the honours of lifting. Club legend status

I agree. One club man, legend, gentleman. I'm actually really happy for him. He's been a great player over the years, and soldiered on through last season for the good of the club even though he was obviously in (even more) pain. I'm glad he's retiring at the "top" of his game.

One of the best defenders the league and Tottenham has ever seen, especially in my life time. Was always a gift to watch him play in our kit. Will always be remembered for the leadership, determination and true love and loyalty for the club, and you can't forget the tackle on Robben and the fastest goal in EPL history to date. Not even giving it second thoughts to who is going on the back of my shirt for the new season, King 26.

A true Spurs legend. Long Live the King!

Lucky enough to have been in touching distance when he literally just picked up the Carling Cup and shout ' I fuckin love you Ledley!' lol. But that's how much he meant to me as a fan, he was unbelievable that day and the best of his generation.

West Ham worship a player like Dicks, Chelsea worship Terry at least we have a player to be truly proud of. Sad day, although everyone knew it was coming.
