Ledley King believes Tottenham can match Harry Kane's ambition as the striker's future remains in the balance. Kane wants to leave this summer in order to win trophies but the club have no plans to sell him and Manchester City have previously indicated they are not prepared to offer the sort of money that could tempt Spurs to change their mind.

He didn't say we can match his ambition, so let's not critisise Ledders for the false headline.

He said:

"We know he is one of the best strikers in the world. Harry is ambitious and I know the club is very ambitious"

"That is as far as it goes, I wouldn't like to say what is going to happen next, all I know is the club is very ambitious and Harry is himself, so that's it."

How “ambitious” IS Kane?

I don’t see pining for a move to City to win a trophy (where it’s pretty much guaranteed) as “ambitious” tbh.

I think the important point here is not so much that he wants to leave but the fact that he feels he HAS to leave simply because the club can't deliver and has fucked up on numerous occasions when presented with a chance to do so.

Were we matching Kane’s ambition when we signed him to a 6-year contract?

What have we done since that is different - allowing for a global pandemic…?

Ambitious enough to turn a blind eye to the blood on the hands of the City owners as long as he gets what he wants, by the sound of it. I don't see it as much of an achievement though to rock up there and have plastic trophies drop in your lap. He'll ultimately win about as much as Fabien Delph.

Come on FFS just because you have gone all moralistic doesn't make Kane a bad person because he wants success.
The likes of you I and others probably work for huge companies who have a shady past so what that is business nothing will stop it no government or moral crusader.

It depends on your POV I suppose. You obviously believe that part of the definition of ambition is winning against the odds or at least not being part of a team that has unlimited resources. He might believe that if he scores goals at Man city and plays his part then winning medals is a legitimate reward. I'm not denying you your definition of ambition but everyone has their own take on it.

I would love Kane to stay because he wants too and not being forced, I am also comfortable with Kane going.

I do get really cheesed off with the trophy talk especially with Kane and others players at Tottenham crying about winning trophies when the opportunities where presented many of them didn't do enough.

No player is bigger than Tottenham.

Its a tuff one yeah.. He gets more buckets than anyone of us can earn in a year and he gets it in a week .The argument/ discussion is what does he think he needs to be Whole. And it seems a trophy is more important than anything.. I get, as people. we all move on and so we should. But to be a real Marvel would be to stay and Win more respect from staying with us....Easy for us we are supporters..for him its Tuff "maybe" ..

Maybe if kane showed up in the finals and semi finals he had at spurs maybe he would of matched his ambitions with spurs. In all the semi finals and finals his played last few years his been spurs worst player. He should share responsibility and stop acting like a Diva! Levy has every right not to sell him if he doesn't get the amount his after. I used to love Kane but he has gone down a lot in my estimation. Rant over ?

Can't put a price on loyalty. It seems he's OK with moving his whole family up to Manchester with his kids leaving their friends behind and all that kind of stuff, to satisfy his own wants. I guess that's what people do to survive, but he's already set for life.

You cannot blame Kane imo. We are nowhere near the mix for a league or CL trophy anymoreThat ship has sailed

At best you can believe we’ve missed the boat due to the new shiny stadium. At worst it’s negligence

Either way Kane most likely will never win a trophy if he stays at Spurs until he breaks Jimmy Greaves record

Im sure he’d have loved to stay if we were anything like competitive but we aren’t

It's a short career.

If Kane wants to go and win trophies... just leaves a slight stain, the opportunities weren't taken by Kane with both Spurs and England... I guess you can leave the team you support to maybe win trophies at another club unfortunately he won't be able to change countries (as it currently stands)

On the cups of winning the league, he posted pictures of lions.
On the verge of winning the CL final, he declared himself fit when clearly he was not.
In the Euro final, he was anonymous yet once again.

Harry Kane likes to talk a good talk, but in crucial moment, he's unreliable. Hes like the James Harden of football, good stats and no trophy to show for it.

We are competitive in that we stay around the top 6/7 usually but beyond that we aren't going to threaten anyone.
