Positive news continues to come from the Catalan media regarding Clement Leglet’s transfer from Barcelona to Tottenham Hotspur. Outlet Mundo Deportivo claims that the player now has ‘permission from Barça to finish closing his loan’, and has already travelled to London to do so. The Catalan media had already been optimistic about the transfer, with Sport claiming there was a pre-agreement between Barça and Spurs for a loan with an option to buy.

He's a complete contrast to Ben Davies which is really handy. Hope he settles in well and gets his confidence back quickly so we can make it permanent. Davies was very reliable last season so there'll be fierce competition for the position which is exactly what we need, and Lenglet will hopefully bring a whole new dimension to our build up and attacking play. Could be a brilliant bit of business.

Looking at our centre back options we have: Romero, Dier, Davies, Davinson, Tanganga and Rodon.

Rodon appears out of favour and is likely to be sold or at least loaned out.

I'd assumed that Davinson was likely on his way out but heard little interest in him or us pushing to sell.

At this stage it looks likely that it's Rodon out and 1 in. But if we find a buyer for Davinson then we could get 1 more.

When this guy was at Seville, everyone wanted him, he’s been poor at Barcelona for a couple of seasons now, but he’s only 27, if Conte gets him back to his best, he’s a really good player.

I think Barca were poor all over the pitch and were playing a system that didn't help Lenglet or Busquets. Lenglet carried the can for a lot more of their failings than the more popular Busquets. I think he'll be excellent in a back 3 personally, but I guess we'll find out soon enough.

With the resurrections of Dejan and Rodrigo under Conte, I have no doubt that any quality player that's been left under a cloud by their clubs will fly again. My money's on Lenglet becoming a fine example of that.

It will be useful to have someone to carry the can again - Dier used to do this well, but his pointing got too convincing. Sanchez was good at taking the blame, but was dropped and is actually quite good when he plays now.

Looking at his stats alone (and stats are often deceiving), Langlet seems more of a creative midfielder that we need rather than a central defender. His ball carrying and passing credentials are excellent. But his defensive skills appear not. He was often caught out of positions, gave away lots of penalties, and won only 20% of aerial dues. He has definitely regressed over the past couple of seasons. Just hope Conte can restore him to the player of 3 years ago. And if anyone could do it, Conte could.
