I know that his performance wasn't top notch yesterday but have you seen Lamela play? His performance has so far been worst that Azza. Perhaps Chadli or Eriksen but Lamela hasn't showed us why he should be a starter in the PL!
I am not criticizing the boy but clearly he hasn't adapted yet! One thing about AVB, if players perform he does give them a go in PL - Look at Holtby for example!
I am not saying that AVB's judgement of playing Lennon 3 times a week is good but to justify Lamela above Lennon now is certainly not a goer!
However, I agree with for the other players mentioned...
Lamela is the future, lennon is the past.
Lennon won the penalty against crystal palace and thats it.
Lamela has two assists and does not hide in games, this being the difference.

Of course, but we don't need any more of them. Players like Chadli and Lamela already look like they're playing with the weight of the world on their shoulders against pub teams in the tin foil trophy.
I get what you are saying, I just think a player like Lennon is going to push to be in the starting 11, and he doesn't really fit in. I don't think he is the little yiddo everyone thinks, and I could see him kicking up a fuss to get time.

even when he briefly moved to the right, he did the square root of sod-all. stop these excuses and call a spade a spade. of what use is a player that can only perform when absolutely 100% fit and when the system suits him and when his head is right and when the moon is in the seventh house and Jupiter aligns with Mars....and even then he'll only do it for a handful of games at best. it's just not good enough.

As opposed to everybody else who were so productive?

If the responses seem to be that he is not at full fitness and that's why we should give him a chance, why the hell is he playing two 90 minute games 3 days apart from one another? Why give Lennon 90 midweek and Lamela 60 then?

only back played 2 games, Jesus wept, give the lad a chance

I don't think it's that people won't give Lennon a chance, it's just that the reality of what he can offer in a season is a maximum of 3-5 goals and 6 or 7 assists at his absolute best.

Is that really enough for a wide forward? It isn't imo and which is why personally I only want to see Lennon as a squad player. I definitely don't want to see him starting at the expense of Eriksen or Lamela who still have to prove that they can do it in the EPL but at least should be given the chance to see if they can do more than Lennon over a period of time.

I think Lennon can only flourish playing on the right. He isn't suited to being an inverted winger. He doesn't have a powerful shot like Bale/Townsend. There is very little he can offer when he cuts in. He is running into a crowded area, away from a possible one on one with the fullback.

Yesterday was particularly difficult for him as there was no room in behind Hull. He isn;t likely to play a decisive through ball nor could he run in behind so there was very little he could offer. If he plays on the right though he could be a big player this season just as he has been for the last 5 years. If he can get to the by-line and cut balls back to Soldado, he will score lots.

Just difficult at the moment as it seems Townsend and Lennon both want to be on the right.

The level of expectation on this forum alone gives you a real idea as to why the atmosphere at home is dying.

He's not a top player in any way, shape, or form. It's time we Spurs fans stop deluding ourselves about this guy. Everyone else can see it, but we refuse to. Other than his pace, there is NOTHING about his game that is in any way top. Nothing.

Might not be world class but he IS a top player, you numpties. Been an ever present since we've been challenging for a CL spot for the last 6-7 years

Wake up and smell the coffee, not every player can be Ronaldo/Messi or Bale. This is not some Championship Manager game or such like!!!

as opposed to the players that don't need every single star in perfect alignment to be able to perform for 7 or 8 games a season

he played on the right for periods yesterday, and still did nothing

Biggest problem with "fans " nowadays, they play a few games on a puter and win and they think they know about football. They need to get of their arses and actually go to the ground and see a real game.

I really didn't realise playing Football Manager and attending games were mutually exclusive until just now

Football Manager is the only place where Lennon is still considered an effective player in 2013, so I'm assuming that's where yours is gained from. meanwhile in the real world, I actually went to a game yesterday and saw him deliver precisely nothing. yet again.
