Lennon does his defensive shift pretty well though, something that isn't Lamela's strong suit.

I still think Lamela's a much better option in a 4-3-3 because he has a lot more to his game. He can make runs down the right like Lennon, but he's far more dangerous when cutting inside. He's also loaded with flair, something Lennon seriously lacks.

Evra? Attacking threat?
haha fair point! 9 goals and assists in the league alone last year though mate, knocking on a bit for sure but still likes to get forward.

Should have had three more assists in the two last games. It's not always his fault that he lacks "end product".

Lennon did alright, but he didnt create any chances.
Lamela created two good chances against city(paul same as bobbies chance today and Ades chance)
So Lamela plays badly so you think, but still creates chances, thats the big difference between Lamela, Lennon and Townsend.
Personally i think Lennon is doing what Townsend did earlier in the season, all show and some good runs, but not actually amounting to anything of substance.
Seriously? No chances?
He put one on a plate for Soldado and did exactly the same against Stoke. His movement in the first half allowed Soldado to put that beautiful through ball in, Lennon saw the opportunity an Bobby reacted to it.
It is complete myth that Lennon doesn't create chances, ask Ade if hi scuff against Stoke was a clear cut chance or not.
Never ceases to amaze me how these opportunities are ignored.
Just seen the date of the post......

I hate lennon, he has so much talent to be a great player but not got over the mental barrier imo and/or has reached his potential imo

Shame he could of been something special

Not sure I agree. I've always thought he's done quite well with the natural ability he actually has.

For whatever reason I just don't think those little legs have it in them to properly whip in crosses and produce consistently decent 20-25 yard shots, which in my view are probably the skills he'd need to reach the next level.

As he's got older and lost a tiny bit of pace, his play has got more intelligent and his final ball has become far more dangerous. I'm not sure what more you could ask from him.

He's an absolute wanker. Every time we get an exciting right winger (routledge, bentley, lamela) he becomes undroppable, so we never get to see what could have been.

Prick.

This Lamela 'a better option than Lennon' stuff is pure garbage. Based on what?! We all want Lamela to be good but let's not delude ourselves, there's a reason he hasn't played much- he hasn't played well when given the opportunity. Simple. Lennon is first name on the teamsheet for me. Absolutely superb yesterday.
Yes lennons played well last couple of games.
But to start having a pop at lamela about not taking his chances is deluded.
Please tell me when lamela has played that badly?
His last game? If not when then?
How about when lamela plays well gets dropped the next game.
Thats the truth I think you will find.
Stop bashing the young lad with half truths and innuendo.

Opportunity? One start in the Premier League along with a few subs? Not to mention he was mostly impressive in these limited appearances?

Lennon's better for a 4-4-2, but there is absolutely no question Lamela's the more talented player, and come the inevitable switch to a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-3-3 formation, Lamela should be the first choice.

Lamela should be given a start against arsenal.

But if lennon keeps on playing the way he has, he will be difficult to shift.

Being superior to Lennon in absolutely every facet outside of defensive work-rate and raw pace & agility?

Better passer, better dribbler, better shooter, more flair, more driven to get the best out of his abilities, offers a much bigger threat cutting inside, bigger, stronger, more tricks up his sleeve; need I go on?

I think he is asking where you are getting the information to base those statements on.

Lennon normally picks up his form when we bring in another right winger.

Just got to hope he remains consistent and he's a useful asset to the team when he plays well.

I want lamela to be better. But lennon has been fantastic the last ouple of games.

If lamela had produced those performances we would all (rightly) be singing his praises.
