I've always seen Lennon as one of the turning points in my life supporting Spurs. The season when he came and got the chance from Routledge's injury proved just how good he was. He'd move the ball around a player and all of a sudden we're on a dangerous attack. In the few years before him, and probably up to Ginola, we didn't have anyone on the wings capable of completely taking a defender out of a move. People forget he is still doing that today, no less effective than he was when he become our most exciting player in years.

However, I'd love to see him become a little more instinctive in wanting to score. Re-watching the Utd game, there were a few "around the box" moments when Eriksen or Soldado were hovering with the ball and if he just made the run, he'd either pull the defence apart or someone could find him and he's in. He did it superbly when Soldado did find him, but if he was doing it more and working on his finishing - he'd become undroppable.

Maybe we shouldn't be looking to bring in another striker and should instead try to get Lamela pushed up behind either Adebayor or Soldado in games where we go with only one of them/only have one available. I think that could work.

Evra is without a doubt Lennon's bitch.

Everytime we play them he runs him ragged!

Looking very good at the moment, still wish he could cross though...

Lennon can cross
In the past he can't, but he has been consistently making good crosses for a while now.
This is a case of first impression clouding our opinion.

It is what we should expect week in and week out from Lennon

I think he has been dooing some strength training and muscled up a bit as he is not so easily bowled over

He was superb against United, but he always is, its almost as if he turns into the player we all expected him to be when he faces Evra. But the sad thing is that Lennon goes good for 4-5 games but then slowly fades out again. It happened last season when he won the game at Sunderland for us, but then failed to play like that consistently. He will always be one of my favourite players because he gets the crowd up and he has been rather loyal to Spurs, but I think Lamela will take his place in the starting 11 if not now then next season.

For all Lennon's percieved ineffectiveness, not scoring enough for a winger and certainly not directly assisting enough, for me it's pretty obvious that the team plays better when he's in it. The same was true under AVB and Harry before him, rocky patches often (not always, of course) coincided with Lennon being out of the side.

He also seems to be a fairly unlucky winger. His crossing has improved ten-fold since he joined us, but I remember one season under Harry where he only played half the season because of injuries and only got two or three assists despite creating about 50 goalscoring opportunities according to the stats. In the last four games, particularly Stoke and United now, he's put several balls in on a plate for the strikers who have failed to convert them.

In short, I think that he deserves his place in the side and it will take some mammoth performances by Lamela or whoever it may be to dislodge him.

I said a while ago i think Lamela is doing all the right things but in the wrong places, i don't want to see him take on a player near the half way line, i want him taking players on around the box, couldn't agree more with you post.

I definitely agree with that, and think it also applies a lot to Siggy.

I agree, except i think we have better options than Sigurdsson, seems a nice chap and all but i would cash in, certainly just behind the striker could be a good position for him, just not for a top 5 side.

I'd like to see him given some more time with Eriksen and Soldado, as they seemed to have a good understanding forming between them at the start of the season.

I don't think he does enough to be honest, needs to get involved a hell of a lot more, lacks pace and looks clumsy on the ball.

Yeah I can see where you're coming from with that, although I'd hope that we coax a little bit more out of him if he was played centrally.

I actually think he will ask for a loan, to get minutes in a more central, and preferred position.

Sadly I don't think Sig has enough in his locker to be pushing for a regular spot. He's got great technique with both feet, but if you have no pace or power (compared to other options) you need to be a bit of a genius on the ball. He's good, but he's no genius.

Lennon has his negatives like many players. He should however be applauded for the defensive aspect he's added and maintained in his game. His defensive reliability makes him a certain starter when fit, and makes our right side alongside Walker a very strong one going both ways.

Lamela for me is a number 10. He isn't ready in this league to play out wide yet, however, it's encouraging to see the work rate he has in his defensive game with the limited chances given to him. I suspect he will see more game time in the league at WHL over our remaining away fixtures.

has been are most loyal player bar ledgers in my time.
yes is quiet at times but when you got managers promoting other players within the squad I think it can have some effect.
when we lost to milan 4-3 the inter fans prior to the game were all asking about Lennon we told them about our number 3 who went on and scored 3. Madrid and AC same year same questions all about Lennon.

Under the right manager I think he would be more consistent. Harry and AVB both improved his game but were busy trying to promote Bale.

Tim looks like he could unleash this little
Tasmanian Devil.
