Losing the most productive strike partnership in the Prem will be bad, but in the end could we end up being in a better place?
We were very reliant on Keane and Berbatov to create and score and contribute to all our attacking play. While they do a fantastic job, did it stop other players from showing their full ability and potential?
Its hard to know if its cause or effect - did we neglect our wing play and midfielders because we kept on playing through the two strikers, or were we forced to play through the strikers because there was no width or creativity from midfield? - but when you look at the goals Bent scored last season they were very much different to the kind of goals Berbatov and Keane scored.
While we wont have that ingenuity up front, will that mean we will be a better all round team? Will we play more consistently because we have a better and clearer plan A?
Would you rather have a top notch front two or a much better team?
In the end, could we be better off for losing two of our top players, if we spend the money wisely?
