TRANSFER WINDOW OPENS

With less than 48 hours to go before the transfer window opens, Club Chairman, Daniel Levy, has indicated once again that he expects no movement amongst regular First team squad members.:)

"Juande, Damien and I have reviewed the squad and Juande feels that we are not looking at any major changes. We are all clear that the January window is the worst time to buy quality players so we shall not be doing any business that is not essential.

"Once again for the record, we are not a selling club, rather we are building for the future. When we have players on long contracts we have no need to entertain offers."

A winger who can play either side and provide cover/competition for lennon and malbs would be nice.

It's all in Levy's choice of phrase. Plus saying: if you want to buy from us, you have to pay crazy money; and equally we are not prepared to pay crazy money for ordinary players.

The good news is that this means hopefully Berba is going nowhere. As for "essential" signings, it's arguable that CB, CM and LM are all positions where we need players. So, if the right player is available at the right price, then that could be construed as essential business.

If we've learned anything in the last year or so, it's to take anything Levy says with a pinch of salt.

"regular first team squad" hopefully that doesn't include Bent, who rarely evn makes the bench. Lets sell him for 10-12. Buy Modric for 10-12. get Defoe to sign on and either promote Peckart/other youngster for the remainder or go and buy a foil for Defoe (Kanoute/Crouch ?) or even Anelka (probably off to chelsea).

Along with a leader for the back/midfield, and maybe a leftie (the dutch kid sound good) that would do me for January.

If we buy an experienced CB we can wait for the cm "gaffer" until the summer.

Still think we should sell Bent and definately think we should grab Modric though.
