Looking less likely as a sale right now. Has numerous possible suitors as a loan with an option. No one as yet willing to talk about a loan with an obligation. His preference is Juve, but they are strapped and we think less likely to take up the option so would prefer the alternatives. Clubs in Italy, Spain and Germany have shown/are showing interest.
and Spurs are receptive to a loan without an obligation? his contract runs through 2025, if he's not out in the Summer, he will be out on a free.

That's the hard part in trying to shift him in the winter window.

Going by what's been said before. I think Kelly was dependant on Dier going, and PEH going for another CM option.
That's what I thought too, I didnt realise Davies was out for 2 months, so other than Emerson we are pretty light at CB again, considering we have 2 CBS still coming back from Injury

I guess the tricky part in a loan without an obligation is shipping him to a place where he is able to showcase his abilities on a consistent basis. otherwise it will be hard to move him in the Summer.

what about a loan with a 1 year extension? not uncommon in this day and age, even amongst players looking to move. guess the difference is that Pierre doesn't seem to mind sticking around for the time being.

VDV was on the bench for the last game, and there are reports Romero has declared himself for also (so is back or back after united game) along with Dragusin about to be official (hopefully). That would mean Davies is actually our only CB option injured.

I don't think this is necessarily true of centre backs, they cover some of the least distance on the pitch.

I have never seen any manager ever regularly sub off his CBs on 60 minutes like they would a midfielder or forward that had gassed themselves out.
We wouldn't know as he's never had a CB to rotate them with but I think he will make use of it, he is different to other coaches after all.

Still a risk as they are returning after injury

So when is there no risk? As players can get injured at any point, they could be back 1 game, 15 games, 500 games and they could pull something again.

Yes there is maybe a higher risk after injury, but there is a risk at any point, this game, or the first game they do come back in. If they have been back in training and showing no reactions, then they are fit enough to play IMO

yes I mentioned it maybe last week or before all parties trying for him don't have the budget to acquire him this window. spurs would want an obligation and a secured replacement for a loan with him entering the last 12 months in the summer.

Phillips and Dorrington must be a long way off currently.

With recent injuries i think Ange would have given them a chance if they were at the level.
They are needs must atm not ready without consistent football at a good level. Phillips needs the loan and Dorrington needs to play men's football week in and week out, It's easier for ange to put in a young attacker than a defender in his mind with the high intensity we play needs 100 % percent full concentration playing in that high line and its not about pace but reading the game before others do to gain that yard. udogie is the exception with his raw talent.

Whilst I think that Davies has been excellent recently, I don’t get the argument that we don’t need Kelly because we have Davies.

If people remember correctly, over reliance on players who are only probably going to get worse is how our squad got in such a mess in the first place. We must take advantage of a great situation whilst we can. Kelly is a terrific deal for us to do, full stop.

Something else worth saying is Pep often plays with 4 centre backs, we’ve been playing with 4 full backs. On that basis, considering the way football is going, we need more centre backs in our squad.

I guess part of the issue is his value in England is higher than his value on Europe. We may need to lowe our value of him to shift him.
