Any data that suggests he's a good fit?

Is it a data thing? I know what most of you think it is but I'd like to know if it could possibly something remotely positive rather than just grim darkness with every sentence that appears on this site.

Not sure who some are expecting us to attract as a backup CB? We are not in Europe and have a nailed on CB pairing of Romero and VDV. No big name is going to come for that role so we are left with trying to find a homegrown CB that is relatively young in age, has potential, and the physical and passing attributes to play CB in Ange’s system. Kelly, Tosin and a few others may fit that bill.

You won’t be signing a star player every transfer. It’s about squad building and bringing in players with the right character and attributes to how our coach wants to play. Kelly seems to fit that over our current backups like Dier, Sanchez, and Tanganga .

Looking at his data on fbref for last season, no.

On DataMB he doesn't even have a CB profile, his fullback profile is ok.

Personally think you don’t sign backups, you sign potential first team players and they compete for places. If that’s not possible, you promote promising youth.

100%

By signing back ups is what has got us into the position we find ourselves in right this very minute in time.

The other big issue we'd have with this signing is it wouldn't solve the Romero back up.

Kelly is a LCB, what we need really is a CB who can play both sides. Unless of course we sign both a LCB and RCB tomorrow but I think there's more chance of pigs flying than that.

Surely not, otherwise you'd think we would've been linked with him earlier. Seems opportunistic.
