Unless Davies is proper crocked, as in a Micky length injury, might be better to wait on this dude for now
Proper crocked or not he'll be 31 in April. I rate Davies and he's been great this season, but realistically in Ange's style of football how many seasons has he got left in him? Succession planning by getting Kelly in makes a lot of sense IMO.

Just playing Devils advocate as he is someone I think we should sign as he has the right attributes to cover VDV. But haven't Bournemouth dramatically improved at the back while he has been injured?

Bournemouth have dramatically improved in general. Iraola is doing a great job there.

Improvement more likely due to getting to understand the new manager’s ideas rather than Kelly being the problem.

I'm sure Bournemouth would rather sell now than lose in the summer now he can agree a move abroad ahead of time. Prem clubs are probably the ones who will have the money. I could see it being an opportunity so I hope we take it. I still want Dragusin though.

I have seen two minute highlights on youtube and approve this signing. Get it done Don Paratici-Peters.

Udogie/Kelly/Davies - VdV/Kelly/Davies - Romero/Dragon/Dorrington - Porro/Emerson

Few things to consider about this link heating up:
• How badly is Davies hurt? How long could he be out for?
• Davies contract expires in 18 months. He's been a great servant and great in VdV's absense - but would it be smart to extend him or future proof?
• Sessegnon is back, but was subbed in at LW late in the last cup match

If he's gettable now for a small fee or part exchange (previous bournemouth interest in Reggie) the benefit could outweigh the risks. Could have changed and refreshed the CB group in two windows which is fantastic.

Well the other factor, and the only way I see it happening, is if Kelly is really high on our list and we consider him operating in the LB role and we are worried otehr clubs will get there before us.

Davies, as reliable and great as he has been, probably isn't in Ange's long term plans, although he's probably happy for him to be around, so we may be using all these factors as the time to press the button. Bringing it forward

Responding to @brasil_spur post here instead

Yeah I think this idea that we will get that same 11, we had from the first 10 games, out week after week is just fantasy.

We mainly had that 11 because we were still early in the season, even so Maddison and Son were carrying knocks and having to be managed (subbed at 70) and that cost us a win at Arsenal.

We are going to need rotation in all positions under Ange because of the intensity and next season, if we qualify for Europe, even more so.

Even Udogie has missed a few games down to suspension and we need to be able to rest players like that before they become overused (see Saka at Arsenal).

Many are worried about youth but I think when we have more options, it allows the level to stay stable, so you can give young players minutes as they will have experience around them.
