Seems a bit mad to me. We sack AVB, they sack Spalletti, we take Spalletti, they take AVB?? Really?

Sacked as head coach of the St. Petersburg "Zenith" 55-year-old Italian specialist, Luciano Spalletti at the end of the season can lead London "Tottenham".

- Acting British coach Tim Sherwood exactly finalize before the end of the season. This issue is not even discussed - told "Izvestia" a source close to the Italian specialist. - In the case of Sherwood completes the task and lead the team into the Champions League, then it will be signed a full contract, designed for long term. If the team does not get to the fourth place, in the summer the club will come a new coach. Luciano Spalletti - number one in the list of candidates for the post. The Italian has already communicated with the leaders of the "Spurs" and gave prior approval for the work.

One of the initiators of the invitation of the former coach of "Zenith" is the CEO of "Tottenham" Franco Baldini, who appreciates the potential of coaching his compatriot. In addition to Spalletti list of potential candidates for the post of coach of the London club also includes the former coach "Chelsea" Roberto Di Matteo and Cesare Prandelli, who heads the Italian national team.

According to FIFA agent Shandor Varga, Italian specialist is a suitable candidate for the coaching position of the English club.

- Spalletti - an experienced coach who is very highly regarded in the transfer market - said Varga. - More summer Spalletti wanted to see in their ranks many super clubs. "Milan" and "Inter" Spalletti dreamed sign, but then "Zenit" not let a specialist home. Now in Milan clubs are Seedorf and Mazzarri, who will remain in the team for next season with all hands. Thus, Spalletti will have little chance to return to Italy. Dining with England? Why not. Working in "Zenith", Spalletti has proven he can calmly adapt to another country and give the result. I would not be surprised if Luciano will lead the "Tottenham". He knows how to work with the stars, which is very important for the London club president Daniel Levy.

Chances that Tim Sherwood will be approved as head coach "Tottenham" minimal. For nine rounds before the end of the English championship Londoners four points behind the coveted fourth place, while in the asset have more games played than competitors.

Famous Russian football player and former sports director of "Zenith" Igor Korneev is also no doubt that will be enough Spalletti offers from top European clubs.

- Despite the resignation, Spalletti remains a top-tier coach - said Korneev. - I am sure that after the departure of the "Zenith" Luciano get as many offers from Italy, as in other European countries. He did a great job and has achieved excellent results in the "Zenith". I think that the dismissal of the St. Petersburg club will not affect its reputation.

Luciano Spalletti headed "Zenith" in December 2009, becoming the only coach in the history of the Russian club who have worked for more than four years. Under the guidance of Italian specialist "Zenith" has twice won the championship of Russia, on time - Super Cup and the country, as well as the first time in history came in the playoffs the UEFA Champions League. According to the results sezonov-2010/11 and 2011/12 was voted the best coach Spalletti Russia.

I'm pretty sure that this is agent / media bollocks.

I can't see any reason why we'd be interested. Not the man for the job.

It's either Van Gaal or Prandelli, IMO.

He's said he wants to come to the premier league. I don't see any of the teams above us sacking their manager.
I see at least one team below us, who should be above us, sacking their manager (Man U). But then again, i don't see that team going for Van Gaal either

Guardian contributor, former scout and DoF at Monaco; Tor Kristian Karlsen has tweeted that Spalletti speaks "decent english".
Karlsen also has very good things to say about him and thinks that we'd be crazy not to go for him.

Karlsen generally knows his shit. Even if he's a bit hipsterish.

I dare say we are sounding out a few options then make a decision when we have a better idea who we want who would be prepared to sign for us
That said I think it might be Hulk's agent trying to talk up a move for him using his old manager at Zenit to try and add some credibility.
I would have thought AVB would be more keen on keeping him at Zenit than anyone would want to bring him to the PL
