Figo would be an excellent signing. He still has real quality adn experience. Would be a great mentor for Lennon, too. Can't see him signing for us but never say never.

I would hate to have a player whose legs have gone this badly! (press the mute button!)

Ta for that, InOff. Based on what I saw I'm going to go crazy and say that he's even better than Ghaly. Still seems to have the dead ball delivery and a decent cross.

A big plus is because he's old, he won't be expecting to play every minute or every game. He doesn't look any worse than SuperEd did when we got him, so if he's on a free (do we know this?) then why not?

"If I Don't Stay In Milan, I'll Quit" - Figo
Goal.com 1 Jun 07

After the Arabian deal fell through, Luis Figo has to decide whether to continue playing with Inter or quitting football altogether.

Luis Figo has asked for 15 days to decide about his future. But of one thing he is sure: "I'm either staying in Milan or I'm quitting football."

The option of moving to Arabia is one of the past.

"Initially I intended to go there", the Portuguese star said, "but they did not respect the deals we made.

"Now I will take these two weeks to think about it and see what happens.

"The way the Inter fans showed their affection on the final matchday made me think twice.

"I know this is the right club, and if I decide to carry on playing, it will be here in Milan.

"I feel very appreciated in this city."

Good, I can't believe any of you would even consider this fucking ****bag. Remember he did to Barcelona what Sol did to us. I don't care if he pissed gold and shit diamonds as well as scored 1000 goals a season, we don't need douche bags like this associated with our good name.

If he is on a free, SIGN him!!!! We need that experience and also the creativity he can bring along. He is CLASS and with him in the team, we stand a better chance to finish top 4 or even a cup or 2. So SIGN HIM!!!

Actually, I seem to remember Barcelona receiving a rather hefty transfer fee from Real Madrid for Figo.

One of the main reasons the Campbell affair was so sour was that he left on a free, when we could have sold him the previous summer for a good £10mil or so.

Figo dismisses transfer talk

Luis Figo has quashed rumours surrounding reports he had signed a pre-contract agreement to leave Barcelona for arch-rivals Real Madrid.

Speculation concerning the Portuguese star has been rife over the last few weeks when it appeared that Figo had put pen to paper in a deal with Real Madrid presidential candidate Florentino Perez.

Figo not commenting on the situation has fuelled the rumours but in an interview with Barcelona-based Sport newspaper, he denied the story, although he confirmed he had received offers.

"I want to reassure fans that Luis Figo, with all the certainty in the world, will be at the Nou Camp on July 24 to start the season," he said.

Contract
"And I want to remind people that whatever is said about other clubs, Luis Figo has a contract with Barcelona."

Figo had strong words when asked about the existence of a signed pre-contract agreement: "I'm not mad enough to do something like that."

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED AFTER....
Figo's Agony

For Figo it was even worse, since the Portuguese rescinded his contract in order to join Real Madrid. He was Real presidential candidate Florentino Perez's trump-card in the election of 2000, Figo's transfer from Real's arch-rivals persuading the club's members to elect him over the reigning president Lorenzo Sanz.

Figo agreed to the deal and Perez, after winning the popular vote, duly paid the Catalans the buy-out clause of US$ 76 million. Barca fans were incensed. While Laudrup has been largely forgiven since his time with Madrid, the hatred towards Figo seems to grow with time.

He is in a way a Judas as well but at least Barca got their money's worth

I think we need an old hand somewhere in our team. Someone like Figo would be a great example for the likes of Lennon, Routledge and Bale.

Figo would not need to play every game and we could sign him like others have said on a 1 year deal at around £40k a week with bonuses if we make top 4 or win something.

can't help thinking he using our name to get a final bumper pay day from Milan for the last year of his contract...

No doubt a skillful addition to the squad. Just hope he doesn't teach the kids what he did to Barca. Please note I do want him to come for his classy play but ethics wise.....hmmm

probably yes. even if not he'll demand wages at least 2 times bigger than keane's. but despite all if he manages to integrate quickly he'll be a great addition - we'll have a world class LW and RW for a season or two.

Didn't everyone say that Davids was past it and just looking for a retirement fund when he joined us? He was one of the main reasons we came 5th two seasons ago and contributed a lot behind the scenes.

Forget Figo's transfer dealings in the past... our board are fully capable of handling a player. Figo would bring huge amounts of experience and a lot of skill to our team and could be an inspiration for the younger lads like Huddlestone.

What makes you say that? He has had a decent season, can you back up that statement with any fact?
