Well for me i would rather we got Benzema, Suarez is same type of player as Defoe and if we are going to spend that kind of money we need a line leader which Benzema is. Not saying he would come but he is unsettled at Madrid.
The question did clearly state "would come to us" at the end. Karim Benzema is not coming to us or is a realistic target hence I ask again, if Suarez is not worth £23m odd who is that will come to us....?

With the quality of forwards being put forward and the extortionate prices they seem to be valued at, I'd be sorely tempted to leave it unless we can ship Keane AND Crouch/Pav.

Only issue is that if we sell Pav and Keane we have hardly any stiker left for the CL.... Suarez played for Ajax already...

There's always Mido or Benni McCarthy if we get really stuck for strikers.

We could possibly even bring back Andy Booth.

I don't get it, everyone moans that our strikers are rubbish, everyone moans that Levy doesn't shell out ridiculous amounts of cash for a top striker...then Levy (allegedly) is prepared to shell out ridiculous amounts for a top striker, and everyone is still moaning.

Based on what I've seen of him Suarez is clearly better than what we've got so do we want to spend and improve or not? I know £23.5m is a lot and fair enough, I was thinking it would be more like £17-18m, but who else is there that a) we could realistically get (not Benzema) or that would actually improve our team (not Carlton Cole...)?

I agree. If we had a Chairman that was the type to gamble our club's survival, to risk us doing a Leeds, then I'd be scrutinising the money side.

But we haven't. We've got Daniel Levy. And the money is safe in his hands.

If he wants to bankroll a player that will improve us, that's great. I don't see the need to be that interested in the financial details whilst he's at the helm.

good post. Just sign the fecker. Anyone who is any good will cost a fortune. At least suarez will have some re sale value.
