Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has revealed that Premier League target Fred is destroying his reputation and costing the reigning French champions a great deal of embarrassment as he continues to play truant in the hope of sealing a move from Ligue 1. The Brazilian striker has been the subject of intense speculation in recent months with Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Newcastle all linked with a move for the 25-year-old. Two weeks ago homeland side Fluminense announced his capture but, no deal has yet been completed and confusion now appears to reign.
Lyon are now prepared to do what it takes to get rid of the troublesome personality and have even taken it upon themselves to cancel his contract thereby foregoing any potential transfer fee for a man who cost them €15m in 2005.
Speaking to L’Equipe, club chairman, Jean-Michel Aulas claimed, “We waited on Saturday for him to come and sign the contract termination papers but he didn’t turn up.
“His behavior is unreal.
“This is fraud. What it does to the Lyon, his wife, his colleagues, is unthinkable.
“This is not good for human nature. We cannot remain inactive on such things. We are in the field of legal matters so I cannot say too much.”
