I can't help but feeling a tad melancholic, as no manager could possibly have wanted to reach the final at Wemberly with the mighty Yids as Maarten Cornelius Jol (by stuffing the Scum 5-1!!!!). Jol did lay the foundation, but Ramos is the man to take us the step forward!

So long live the Ramos Revolution:beer:

...and to Martin and his brothers Dick and Cock:beer:

Yea! Here's to Dick and Cock!

Big Martin can relax knowing he had a big part to play in making the club what it is today. Although Im sure he would be the first to say it was Juande who deserves full credit for getting the team in shape.

It was comming. It took a while and Jol came the closest in all that time, (with or without the backing he needed for Levy,) but Ramos and Gus have now almost completed the transition as a title winning side - well not the Title title, but maybe?

Long live Martin Jol. (And long live Ledley King!)

I still love Martin Jol. I was reading his notes in the 125 programme earlier, he loved Tottenham.

I still love BMJ but, I'm sorry to say, JR has already shown he's a class above.

We surely can't say that just yet, can we?

Don't get me wrong, I'm a MASSIVE OneDay fan, but Jol did something no other had done before and bought us relative success in the league.

Let's not forget the day after beating Chelsea when Jol was in charge. We thought he was God too.

Martin J will FOREVER be loved by the majority of Spurs fans....NO doubt whatsoever. I would even go so far as to include him in last nights celebrations for all the work that he did to get the club to its current state (good and bad...maybe).
MJ was a man in a million and we should NEVER forget him and, when we begin to lift trophies etc I hope that Martin's name will be included in the Thank You list!
Who knows where we shall GO from here...UP we would hope but, for the immediate future, let's toghten our belts and plot a success hewading (I wish that I was a sailor! NOT! COYS!

BMJ provided a major stepping stone to the position we find ourselves now from the position he first found himself. For that he has my eternal thanks. And now Juande has the reins, long may he reign.

 to them both

I can't argue with anything you say Russell but I'm not just basing it on last night. We were arguably as good at the Effeminates (both games) and we've just looked more solid, fit, and organized lately.

If Spurs beat Man U on Sunday, I'll seriously think your signature has something to do with all these victories

If it wasn't for Jol's 2.5? years in charge, we wouldn't have Ramos as coach right now. He made us a respectable club again, took us into Europe and laid the foundations that Ramos is now building on.

You'll always be welcome at the Lane Martin!

Papa Jol was the best thing to happen to this club in the past decade !

I hope he learns more on the tactical side of things and hope he comes back in the future to manage for a second stint

 to them both as "brother" dougal has already said

The line between success and failure is very thin.

On Tuesday we crossed the line gloriously, we blocked shots and got the goals when it mattered. l'arse missed their chance to pull it back , we took ours (after a few misses).

Last season, after Chelsea hit back to make it 3-1, we had an open goal to make it 4-1 but missed it, and ended up eventually losing the tie instead of destroying Chelsea.

Both Jol and Ramos are top class managers. Ramos has proven himself as a winner of cups in Spain and looks like doing so again for Spurs. Jol has proven himself by turning a midtable team into a UEFA Cup team and Champions League contenders but at crucial times was let down and never achieved full potential.

Sometimes it's about the players.

When they get their chances (to race back and clear the line, to stand up in front of a shot instead of turning away, to ignore the post and just go for the ball, to make that run into position and take responsibility, to keep their eyes on the ball and slot it home...) they need to take them. No cowardly turning away from a shot. No half hearted attempts at goal.

It's time to be winners.

I think that's the bottom line, llama. Apart from 2001/02 when we finished 9th, our last appearance in the top ten was in 1995/96. I don't think Ramos would have been interested in a club in that position.

Two 5th place finishes brough us Europe and into contact with Seville. Could BMJ have been the architect of his own demise.

The better is always the enemy of the good. But before BMJ we were pretty crap!
