Gary Mabbutt officially kicked off Men’s Health Week 2011 at White Hart Lane on Monday, encouraging men of all ages to turn to new technology for quality health information.
This year’s Men's Health Week 2011 (June 13-19) will focus on how new technologies can be used to improve men's health and a number of online products and activities have been produced as part of the campaign including a free mobile app.
The Men’s Health Forum is encouraging men to download a mobile app called 'Bloke Noises' from iTunes, which will provide information about the health problems that are most likely to trouble them.
As part of Men’s Health Week the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation will be working with local men in the community to help provide access and training, including the use of the Spurs Learning Zone at White Hart Lane.
Men’s Health Forum CEO Peter Baker said: "For Men’s Health Week 2011, we’re aiming to reach men in a place that they are in vast numbers – the internet.
"One of our main aims is to get the proportion of men using the internet for health information up to 50% within two years. I think that’s a very realistic objective."
