We are delighted to announce the signing of James Maddison from Leicester City.

The England international has agreed a deal with the Club that will run until 2028.

James, 26, began his career with Coventry City where he progressed through the youth ranks to make his professional debut in August, 2014, before joining Norwich City in January, 2016. Remaining with the Sky Blues on loan for the rest of 2015/16 campaign, he finished with 42 appearances in total for his home town club, scoring five goals.

Absolutely over the moon for us getting Maddison.

Been saying on here for months that we need a GK, 2 CBs and James Maddison this summer.

Our glorious leader will probably now intend on paying for this deal by selling HK to Bayern!

Hope not though as I reckon Kane, Sonny and Maddison will be mustard together next season.

Haven't been this excited about a spurs signing in a very long time - probably since Toby to be honest. COYS!!!!!!!!!!

Can’t believe we got this done so quickly, was gearing myself for weeks of links followed by disappointment. Fantastic signing.

Ange has got the player he wanted. Great start to his time here. Really looking forward to seeing our front 4 next year in an aggressive, attacking setup after years of passive, defensive durge.

Apologies being the usual sceptic, but if our new manager's preferred system is a 4-3-3 with wide wingers and box to box midfielders, why have we signed a pure creative 10 with question marks over work rate?

If he plans to use that position in a Poch style system then great. If he's expected to play as an 8... then hmmmmm.

I also actually don't like him, always thought he was little ****. Annoying that I have to support him now

Postecoglou has played multiple systems in the past. It's all about options isn't it?

won't he play the role Hatate played under Ange at Celtic? Maddison also played a lot from the right coming in for Leicester and was effective in that role. So he could play in the midfield or even right of the front three.

Options galore!
And given his attacking stats are far more impressive than someone like Havertz, but at a much lower price, I'm well on board with this signing

Yet go back to before the window even opened and we had people moaning that other clubs get deals sorted quickly and we don't!

Hoddle a luxury? It's the bad players who are a luxury. (Danny Blanchflower.)

I dont think Ange will have any problems fitting Maddison into his schemes.
Good players are not the problem.

Yeah I mean that was demonstrably false to begin with, last season we was bang at it too. We have changed our ways in recent times and I think you're right to bring it up because I think if you wish to be critical of people doing things, you have to actually acknowledge when they get it right. If people ignore reality then it makes any reasonable points they make have less weight in my opinion.

I mean... Hoddle probably had more talent in his big toe than most footballers today, but I get the sentiment.

To clarify, I'm not doubting Maddison's quality. Just his suitablity for the new world. If the coach actually wants him for his plan, then triffic.

I can see him and Kulusevski mixing things up and swapping positions from time to time and that's a great option to have.
