Crouch had a good game, as had the whole team. He may have been lucky with the goal when the ball basically was dropped on his head by the keeper in front of the empty net, but as I said, who cares - we won and he got the goal! And he was in the right place at the right time - which is very important for a striker.
Most of the balls were directed at his head/chest, which meant he obviously saw the ball much much more than anyone else up front, to the detriment of Lennon's involvement I felt, and which always means Defoe gets the ball less - largely because he does not or cannot get close enough to Crouch for the flick-ons. And as some people already pointed out, he had the best chances to score before the goal, missing three very clear opportunities - the type which people like coyboy would gleefully deride Pav for - and if we did not get the right result last night, a lot of people would have talked very differently after the match.
I salute Crouchy for the most important goal - however lucky - in our recent history.
But I am not closing my eyes to the whole picture yet.
I have also noted the useful contribution from Pav in the 10 minutes he had, with a couple of very good progressive passes, good movement into space and a very good shot on the run which brought a good save in injury time.
The whole team deserves a lot of credit for last night's match - and we should not be bickering and trying to score brownie points right now. We'll have time to do that later.
I blame nferno .
