There's talk of Roy Hodgson being in the running for manager of the season, but what if....

Fulham lose and we beat Liverpool?

Step forward a new candidate Mr Harry "2 points from 8 games and a cup final appearance" Redknapp

I think Harry will run old red nose close for that award if we were to finish 7th

Roy Hodgson for taking Fulham from certain relegation, to Europe in a year, or possibly even Tony Pulis for making the best signing in the past 5 years. Don't get me wrong, Redknapp has been brilliant, but he has the money and the players.

I think Ferguson will win it, but definitely honourable mentions for both Roy Hodgson and Harry - though Harry does have the resources at hand.

Roy Hodgson has done wonders with a team that were on the brink of relegation last year, even if they were lucky with injuries this year - he's bought intelligently and have had them playing well-organised and team-based football - only dempsey really stands out as any type of creative outlet but they've made it count.

I reckon Moyes is in with a chance if everton win the FA Cup, though.

Redknapp should be manager of the year, no doubt. We were down until he took over. We may laugh about him repeatedly saying "2 points from 8 games", but to now be challenging a Europa spot is outstanding. He may have had money but he had to spend it well and the players we had were not performing under Ramos.

Had we not got Redknapp in when we did, we'd be down by now. Manager of the season without a shadow of a doubt in my eyes.

yes Hodgson did very good job there, and took the club from relegation zoon last season to European place in the following season, BUT he also was given very good transfer budget ( the best one apart from City & us ) ..

for me, it is Moyes, he did outstanding job there, another solid season despite very limited transfer budget, and this time F.A cup final ( let alone the injuries for his Key players like Yakubo, Arteta etc.. )

then, Redknapp, 2 pts from 8 games, the worst start ever ( poor morale and the worst confidence ever ) to this position and points, this is excatly 15-20 pts more than we expected after the defeat against Bolron !

1- Moyes
2- Redknapp
3- Hudgson
4- Pulis

Hodgson for me (he did have money to spend last summer though) - mainly it's Fulham's organization and performances against the top 4 that have really impressed me this season; they deserved to win at Anfield too not just OT. Difficult to play against but not ugly football or anything.

Moyes imo is the best outside the top 4 managers - he's built a great squad from pennies (though Fellaini was expensive), knows how to work with their youngsters, hit top form (something like 1 point behind l'arse in the second half) without strikers, and hopefully will finally win something this season. I think he'll do better next season though since it's unlikely they'll have so many injuries again.

Also Pulis has done a fantastic job, I know their football is dire (still deserves credit for making the goons look like the little boys they are) but being midtable in the prem with a squad that's very much fizzy pop quality is a fantastic achievement. Beattie was a very astute signing. Also Pulis's very existence annoys Wenger, an automatic positive in my book. :)

Harry has done a great job of course, but not many have our resources and our squad, who looked like relegation candidates thanks to Ramos. That said, the higher up you are the more difficult it is imo to get to the next level. With a clean slate next season he'll have a chance to show what he's really capable of.

Hodgson bombed at Blackburn a few years ago - amazing a different set of players can make or break a Manager's rep.

He didn't bomb, they sacked him far too quickly. He had a great first season and a poor start to the following season and the Blackburn board made a hasty decision.

But what you are saying about how a set of players can make or break a managers rep is so true.

Manager of the year .......

For any Spurs fan it has to be a Mr A Wenger............due to his lack of buys & belief in his 'Kids' leading to a another trophyless season for the Woolwich reds :) :)

Roy Hodgson, as given a couple of times, deserves a mention. If Martin O'Neill had kept up the form Villa were showing in the first half of the season, considering the players he has, he would've gotten a few votes i'm sure, but if i had tracks i'd be a tank.

I think Zola also deserves a mention as he was given next to nothing to start with and has done a lot of work with them to get a half decent side going there, but i think it's going to be SAF again.

He's once again managed to bring through a crop of youngsters and blood them sensibly into the already outstanding first team and, where i thought that next year they might struggle to be as dominating in the middle if Giggs and Scholes retired, they've shown that there is hope and Carrick can lead the next generation of reds on with confidence.

There's no taking it away, he might be an arrogant, loud, aggressive, short tempered old bastard, but he's just about as good as it gets when it comes to managing a football team.

Can't believe nobody is mentioning Hidink. I know he's chelski but the man is a miracle worker. And after the rest of those wankers showed their true colours against barca he retained his dignity.
