Don Hutchison has claimed that Tottenham and Arsenal should have appointed Graham Potter as their boss, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.

I agree. Wanted him from the start. If we weren't able to get Tuchel, Conte or even Poch back then if we were going to bring in a PL manager then Potter was the best option. Only time will tell.

I wanted Potter whether or not Tuchel et al were available. His teams consistently played the better football than us when we met them, and we only prevailed because we had ruthlessly efficient strikers.

Give me the choice of any coach in the world right now and I'd take Potter - over Tuchel, Conte, Klopp, Guardiola or Poch. He is made for us, and why we're wasting time not getting him in is so frustrating.

No baggage, no ego, progressive, exciting, young, clear philosophy, attack minded. WTF are we waiting for?

I swear something doesn't feel right with him not being here.

Wasn't he who Levy/Hitchen wanted but we went with Paratici's choice?

If so then neither man will be with us long.

Couldn't agree more. There was a big clamour for Poch but it didn't feel right to me. Maybe at a later date. Right now we needed something fresh and exciting, Potter is exactly that.

Apparently Paratici made the final decision and wanted Nuno, but you wonder how much of Brighton/Wolves he'd seen in the last 2 years. And if he had watched a fair bit of them and still made this choice then it's even more concerning.

From what I have heard Potter sees himself down the other end of the Seven Sister Road.

The hiring of our last two managers has mirrored how we have signed players in that time. We are reactive and not progressive in our outlook. I would like to know if have KPIs for each position and our staff and I include the likes of fitness coach, analyst, etc in that.

There was a time we had five targets for each position. Do we still have that depth of scouting? If not, why was it allowed to breakdown?

Do we have a list of targets for the coaching positions? Who replaces Nuno in six months or two years? Has his successor been identified or will we pursue the most available high profile manager available at the time?

Did we approach Teuchel when he was out of work? Do we invite in coaches and managers to attend games and practices? I know a couple of clubs that do it is this way. They are both playing in the Champions League.

We need to be five years ahead in our outlook. I think we have people in the club who feel the team can recreate the CL Final run. Forty years ago we stood still and were relegated. It shouldn't happen again, but we could fall back into mid-table mediocrity.

Maybe Mendes isn’t Potter’s agent….

I felt he would be a good choice. If we were pushing the reset button, his playing style was what we should’ve been looking for. And maybe we were until the new DoF arrived.

I’m also pleased to see Brighton doing well; the criticism aimed at him by many on here was that he hadn’t really improved them in terms of league position, hopefully this season changes that.

I wasn't convinced and am not sure now either but surely wed be witnessing something a bit better than what we currently have. Although with the players still here who knows.
What you dont have will usually seem better than what you do have when everything is miserable. I would have been more exited by Potter though.

This is why I find people who seem to watch football through the prism of statistics tedious. People were using all sorts of numbers to dismiss what Potter had done at Brighton. Anyone that watched them last season couldn't deny they were good to watch. They had a lot of low scoring games but it was night and day with Wolves' games. You could see what they were trying to do and they did it very well but they had Danny Welbeck up front...

I hope we havent missed the boat with Potter. He will definitely get the promotion he deserves soon but at which club. I fully expect Arsenal or Man U to be after him now.
