link to the interview?

I thought he came across very very well. He talks a lot about big picture and long-term project. He also says it is a "re-build" not "build".

He talks about the new signings being good now and talented for the future.

He talks about Skipp, Tanganga, Scarlett and the importance of bringing through the academy players

"I'm not someone who stays 6 months, 1 years 2 years in one club, my last two projects were 6 years and 11 years, I want to build something long-term, we have the best infrastructure and in an amazing city, we have everything to build something really really big, we need the support of everyone to pull together to achieve what we want"

"Aim is to be competitive and to choose the right players, about mentality first and then style of football 2nd and to build the best style of football and the best team that we can"

I know that we are sick of hearing that but this guy actually has a CV of long-term success at clubs over 5-10 years and on early evidence he's made some good signings so I trust him a lot more than I'd trust Levy steering our football strategy.

What do you mean covering himself?

I saw it more as he is more and more aware of the noise around it so subtly mentioned that it is a priority or at least he knows it should be a priority and will take that on board more so moving forwards.

Italian football culture is very very different to English and Juve is a totally different club to Tottenham. Juve's star players over the past 10 years or so have mainly been defensive, the core of their team was built on : Buffon, Chiellini and Bonucci and Italians celebrate 0-0 draws, it is so so different to England and to Tottenham, Paratici's DNA is pretty far removed from ours so he will need some time to adapt and to get used to our club.

I would therefore question if he was the right fit as a DofF for us, however unlike with Managers who have certain training programs and tactics drills and preferred style's of play and philosophies, a DoF's role is very different and so overarching that if they have good football knowledege they should be able to adapt the players they sign etc to suit a different manager or club's philosophy.

I'm on one hand a tad cautious that Paratici's DNA doesn't quite match ours but also quite optimistic as he was a big part of building Juve's amazing success the last 11 years, he's on the whole got more signings right than he has wrong and he seems like a strong likeable determined character who wants to build success so I think the pro's outweigh the cons, I just hope he can adapt his thinking to not only signings us good players but building a project which involves attacking free flowing football which is also successful.

I felt the use of prioritising mentality covered the recent remarks Fonseca had made at the time and the criticism of the style of football under Nuno. I'm not saying it was an incorrect answer from him, I just personally felt he wanted us to focus away from the style.

I think he has come across well though in these interviews and his touchline antics!

Just concerned by what Fonseca said.

I just posted the link to the video and some quotes mate, he literally said we want to build the best style of football we can so I see your thinking but I really don't think he is trying to 'cover himself' at all, I think he is just stating our objectives and is aware that Levy and the fans expect and want to see good football.

He also uses the word balance a lot which I do like because to be successful you do need a balance on and off the field.

Right now on the pitch we are too defensive and risk averse and don't create enough chances but we are trying to address that and can see the style of play changing slightly the last few matches and meanwhile off the pitch Paratici will be addressing this by identifying attacking players who can help us score and create more goals.

I think you are right, people are just angry, personally I think there is progress, we need solid foundations first, let’s be honest if Kane had his heart in it, we would look a lot more dangerous. Rather than looking so poor in attack.

Sadly we have lost 4 Derby’s in embarrassing fashion and played boring football! Hopefully nuns will start to get us playing attractive football. If he doesn’t soon it’s going to be hard to keep anyone onside!

The guy who actively wanted Gattuso & then plumped for Nunout?

You're much more trusting than me.
Absolutely right. If you carefully look at his career he wasn’t the driver of the success at Juve. Actually far from it. Not sure how anyone can say we should trust him based on some absurd choices he’s made since his arrival at Spurs. He clearly has no clue about our heritage of being a glamour club known for playing attractive football.

exactly this! His time in charge of director of football at Juve when Moratta left for inter is actually pretty poor. He is best known for his two disastrous managerial appointments and the signing of Ronaldo. Which commercially was a great success but football wise less so for Juve. Oh and he also signed Aaron Ramsey on a £450k a week deal.

Aha, I think I've spotted the problem. It was a bold move, but I think we can all agree the experiment has failed.

It's our 10th game tomorrow and I haven't seen any "balance" and our need for a striker and creative midfielder wasn't addressed in the summer. Words are fine but it's results that count so I am reserving my judgement on our DOF for the moment.
Ok fair enough, I agree with those points tbh but I’d counter that with the fact he had very little budget and did creatively well with it with the Ins and Outs and most of the signings so far look pretty promising wouldn’t you say?

If he’d signed a load of duds so far and as you say hadn’t addressed some key areas then fine, but he brought in a very good CB, a decent RB and a talented young GK and RW and CM for the future, I’d say it was a fairly solid start from Paratici?
