This.

Lots of us rightly unhappy with Levy for last couple of seasons but Nuno appointment mainly on Paraciti.

Who would have been next in line if they passed over Nuno the second time through summer? It was a horrible time PR-wise for the club and they needed to hire someone. Passing over Nuno only to be rejected by another two candidates would have been terminal.

Levy knew that. Also, reporters were expressing caution with who the sources were for that story on Levy's reluctance.

I wonder what Patrici convinced him with, I wonder if he did it the traditional USA college recruitment method of cash and hookers... Honestly really in shock right now Patrici pulled it off. Also I am praying to god right now we figure it out transfer wise. I wonder if we actually bring anyone in, in january or if it's just ah sorry we tried

Cuz Patrici could do proper Italian gestures and that clinched the deal. Simple.

Massive credit to Fab. By all accounts, Nuno was his man. He quickly realized his mistake and rectified it. Something we envied watching Chelsea do with Lampard and Tuchel.

Reminder that some people wanted Paratici to resign yesterday

Well up until yesterday his only managerial appointment was Nuno. I didn't see many people calling for his head but I don't think it was too unfair to review his work to date and not be overly enamoured.

Perhaps Fabio misheard Levy when Daniel spoke to him after the game and thought he said ‘Conte’

Convincing Conte not to join United when they have Ronaldo, Fernandes, great future in Greenwood, Rashford, Sancho, could be most important signing in recent years.

He wanted Conte in summer, and he signed Romero and Gil.

Easy to be selective with facts when it suits an agenda though.

I don't think the United board wanted Conte, far to big a risk for them.

Nuno was the last fucker standing and the club simply needed anyone who wouldn't say no at that point.

I do have concerns about his treatment of Fonseca and his pursuit of Gattuso, though. Nuno was a special situation.

I think you are way off blaming Paratici for Nuno, Levy had fucked up the previous what 4-5 options put in front of him.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nuno was mentioned as a sarcastic joke and Levy said ok, he will do.

Possible but there aren't plenty of good alternatives for them. Banking on Rodgers getting the sack soon, Zidane who needs a break (and not sure about Ronaldo's feelings about him) or another interim. ETH and Lopetgui won't leave untill summer.

One thing I hope this teaches us is to be a bit more patient with Fab. I know we like to jump on mistakes but admitting it and changing it quickly is just as good a characteristic, especially for a DoF.

He's made some good signings (I don't think we fully realise how big a coup Romero was) and then brought in one of the best managers in the world. You can see he is no idiot and works extremely hard.

I for one am very happy for him to be here and I will not get on his back immediately if something goes wrong in the future. Lets trust our man. We're very lucky to have him.

Regardless of who is or isn’t to blame for appointing Nuno, the positive is the prompt correction. As has been said before, Chelsea reacted quickly earlier this year to replace Lampard with Tuchel and instantly saw the rewards. We should have beaten them to Tuchel but we didn’t. We do appear this time to have reacted quickly to go and get Conte, because you know Utd won’t put up with OGS much longer.

That's a bit unnecessary. Why would I have an agenda against Fabio Paratici? We've not been exposed to him to really build up any kind of agenda. I'm going purely on what I've seen. Whatever the circumstances, he has to take at least some level of blame for Nuno. You can view his signings in a manner of ways, nothing to do with any pre-determined dislike I have for the guy.

The Fonseca and Gattuso things did happen though. Doesn't sound like we can pin those on Levy. Treated one guy appallingly, misread the social atmosphere with another, misunderstood the club's fans with another. Steep learning curve but let us hope he's taken notes after the summer. Comes across very well in interviews so I'm hopeful
