Really not convinced Paratici is right for us... think its going to end in disaster, think we need someone who can spot a talent early on, not someone in their prime on a free transfer on massive wages.
Yeah he does appear to be part of a package but that package is just him now

Seems like posters only know him for the Ronaldo, Khedira, Ramsey deals etc maybe his working remit at Juve might have been to get experienced, quality players who can help them win trophies in a short timeframe. He's signed talented youth players before, not just over the hill players looking for a final payday.

Need to remember some of those deals was possible, because he worked at Juve also. De Ligt comes to mind. Many had him on the list, but they paid 75M Euros for him. Dyballa was also linked to a lot of Clubs, but with the power of Juventus it was easier than it will be to get those kind of deals to Spurs.

Sure. The point I was trying to get across is Paratici isn't a one trick pony only capable of securing free transfers on high wages. He can work around the needs of a club and zero-in on the type of players who fit the philosophy and needs. Daniel Levy will most likely direct him to secure young, talented players with high potential for relatively cheap ( given the financial issues that most clubs have had with COVID, I can actually see Paratici full-filling this request) and maybe one or two experienced players who can step in and plug some gaps.

That isn't a bad list at all. From memory, in Italy they utilise the loan market well to get their young signings up to a decent quality. EG. Berardi was at Sassulo then loaned back to them. I wonder if he will try and do something similar here?

Obviously the loan/ownership system in Serie A is unique and flexible but hopefully, Paratici can use his contacts for our benefit. I honestly wouldn't mind us copying, to some degree, the Chelsea method when it comes to loans and feeder clubs ( though FIFA has been trying to clamp down on that ). We haven't had anyone since Tim Sherwood actively work to setup loans and ensure that the U23/U19's are getting real game experience in the lower leagues.

Ally Gold intimated that he is thought to be very good at spotting young players with potential - let’s be honest, until the new stadium delivers on its financial promise, that’s what we’ll be looking at investing in.

Thats why a manager like ETH would be a great fit for us. We already have a really solid group of talented youth players in

Ryan Sessegnon (20)
Oliver Skipp (20)
Japhet Tanganga (22)
Dennis Cirkin (19)
Troy Parrott (19)
Dane Scarlett (17)
Harvey White (20)
Nile John (18)
Alfie Devine (16)
Malachi Fagan-Walcott (19)
Dilan Markanday (19)
Brooklyn Lyons-Foster (20)
Timothy Eyoma (21)
Jack Clarke (20)

add to that GLC (24) , Tanguy (24), PEH (25) , Bergwijn (23) , Reguillon (24) , Rodon (23)

and we could do with always add a couple more standout players and hopefully, pick up a few experienced pro's who can come in and help nurture those younger players ( Edgar Davids/Naybet effect) .

Quite exciting to see what he can produce.

Depends who the manager is, as there is no point bringing in young players if the manager wont play them.

Personally, I think our greatest need is to bring in players that are good enough to contribute straight away but have the potential to be world class .e.g. Bale and Modric when we signed them and how Dybala, Demiral and Kulusevski were when Juve signed them.

I would like some of those too. But id rather not focus on those kinds of players completely. We desperately need to bring in a few quality players for the now.

I think realistically, we should focus on those kinds of players in addition to a couple of quality players per season.

Obviously that is the hardest market to operate in for young players but one we have done well in during the last decade or so. Maybe that is why he has been brought back in. To try and explore that market again. Although I’m not sure how the new Brexit rules for work permits might have an effect on this if he is targeting younger players.

It’s probably already been mentioned but this appointment isn’t just about the signings it’s about the sales. We have a lot of players in our squad that have to be sold and we needed someone who’s task it is to sell them. We have got to keep Kane but at the same time we need money to improve the side. This is going to have to come from selling 6 or 7 players maybe more from this squad. I can’t envisage it but I just hope somehow Levy gives this guy the responsibility to sell players at what he considers correct pricing and buys players using said cash at what he considers correct valuation. If it fails then he gets sacked but just give this guy the chance to show you how we could/should be operating.

True, but in an interview I watched of him, he lamented how at Juve it wasn't really possible to bring through younger players with potential - they had to bring through players who were ready to step up right away rather than cheaper, younger players who might need more time.

At Spurs we're a bit below Juve's level so maybe he'll have the capacity to bring through a few more upcoming talents rather than anointed future starts like De Ligt who are already ridiculously expensive.
