A random french journo says we've made contact with Bordeaux for Yacine Adli - 21 year old central midfielder who came through the ranks at PSG. 6"1, still quite raw but has great feet, loves to dribble and gets stuck in defensively.

Be surprised if we were actually in for him as doesn't seem to be the type of player we're after at the moment but could be one for the future.

Is there some sort of condition in french journalism where if Tottenham are linked Arsenal also have to be linked and vice versa

So we’re starting to look at attacking midfielders. I wonder who’s on Paratici’s list.

Fabio Paratici reminds of the guy who used to turn up on the Royal variety performance every so often, he'd end up spinning thirty odd plates at the same time and never break a one of them.

This kid will go to Arsenal. So boring that they always have to put us in with them.

They technically dont need him at all, unless they get rid of a forward player. Remember they still have martinelli who I hate to say is a quality player and has the right attitude, drive, determination in his play along with his talent, it was just unfortunate he got that injury last season.

Pepe they are stuck with unless they take a huge huge loss (bit like tanguy for us in a way) Auba is their most potent stiker but at 32 and on silly wages, they will find it hard to find suitable takers especially in the current climate, Laca is 30 well he been rumoured to leave for awhile now barely averages 13/14 league goals a season probably the most likely that could be moved on .... Martinelli as mentioned above they will not let that young talent leave just yet anyway

Is anyone else concerned that with 3 weeks to go we don’t seem to have anything imminent? I know Paratici negotiates for multiple players at a time but we have so much to do both in and out that it’s a bit concerning!

Nope, because as soon as Kane is sorted triggers will be pulled on incomings. Outgoings I will agree, but plenty can happen in 3 weeks.

As long as he doesn’t accidentally shoot Max Bygraves in an ill fated magic trick and spend the rest of his life in a Butlins hinterland

Exactly, we aren’t a club that will go out and spend the Kane money on one player. It’ll be used for a replacement, probably a ‘better’ back up, a ‘better’ second centre back. At the moment, I imagine we are stalling until we know what shopping list we’re working off.

If ever there was a window in which we must resign ourselves to last minute business it is this one. There will be a lot of bargains out there in the end as clubs across Europe must come to terms with their post-Covid finances and balance the books, meanwhile we need to attract Champions League quality players by dangling a Conference League carrott. There will be opportunities, but it won't be easy. And with the Kane situation we don't even know our budget.

Maybe I'm connecting dots that aren't there but what I'm noticing about our business is that we seem to be going about it in a way where we land the easy targets and then use them to help with our more ambitious deals and convince the target despite the fact we've fallen down the pecking order in last couple of season. First get the easier target to get so for example, first we got Gollini.

Now all of a sudden we have Gollini joining Lo Celso who can get in Romero's ear that everything that Paratici is selling about the project is absolutely true to the point where he's willing to leave a team with Champions League football to come. Now we're hoping that the ambition showed on the Romero deal along with Gio can convince Martinez that it's worth leaving the Serie A champions and champions league football for the project which we're about to begin. I imagine we're hoping that level of ambition then convinces our next CB target, for example if that is Kounde who previously wanted champions league football, maybe he see's the squad we're putting together and Paratici can use that to sell the project once again.

As I say maybe I'm connecting dots but i'm seeing some connectivity there particularly with the Atalanta, Argentine links and how we're using players to reaffirm the vision that Paratici is trying to sell to prospective talents.
Or maybe the easy ones are just easier to do

With just days left, I'm wondering if anyone will take a deep breath, let out a resigned sigh, then cautiously approach our basement bargain bucket. Will they have the courage to judiciously scrape the barrel clean and filter through the slim pickings before offering...loan deals?
"Please! Take me! I can turn like a tank and dash up steps like a prince!" boasted one.
"No pick me!" cried another. "I charge in straight lines as ferociously as a bull but I'll never control the ball."
etc. etc.
