I think the main problem FP is going to have now is shifting our deadwood who we can't even give away for free it seems. The likes of Sissoko, Winks etc are going to struggle to get what they're paid with us elsewhere. Even if they did want to get rid of Ndombele nobody is going to match his wages either. So we have a bloated squad with a lot of very average players who FP/Nuno will most likely want to be rid of but will struggle to.

Wasn't there reports before he came that selling off deadwood isn't his forte?

Maybe the 'deadwood' realise they are at the club/level they want to be, even if others do not. Cannot really blame them if they do not want to move from THFC to a lower level club. Yes they are collecting a wage but to them it could be the best they can get.

Isn’t a free transfer usually the way to shift high wage players, and then the buying club supplements wages with a signing on fee?

I’m starting to believe that there will not be anymore incomings until we starting getting rid of players, in which case we expect most of the work to be done towards the end of the window

I’m certain this is the case. So far we have operated on one out and one in in the same position.
We currently have 11 defenders for 4 positions, 7 midfielders for 3 positions. I am just surprised that a centre forward was not a priority at the start of the window.

There has been ITK saying a Striker is a priority. Clearly the Kane situation needs to be resolved though as it will depend on who they get to play alongside and also to replace. It was reported at the weekend we had a bid accepted for Martinez so we are clearly looking.

Sorting out of defence though is a huge priority and that’s been improved with a great signing.

Let's be totally honest here. You are looking at a guy who has come onto a ship with more holes in it than a sieve. He doesn't want to simply run around the decks making minor repairs that will spring water again in a years time. He's trying to work out which of the leaks constitute the gravest threat to the survival of all on board and deal with them in a methodical and long term manner. I have no doubt that when Spurs once again hit the high seas of the Premier league on August 15th we will still be taking in water but it will be at a controllable and ever improving rate.
This Italian was deliberately not going to say "Rome wasn't built in a day" but it does seem the perfect description of where we are at. When the transfer window closes I hope everyone in here will not think "It's nowhere near enough" but more "Fair play, considering the hand he was dealt he's not done too bad". Then when he has time to really show what he can do we can start making real plans.

To be fair we have done 1 in 1 out so far.

Anyone else seem to be a bit nervous that there seems to be nothing advanced for our more pressing positions?

I know Paratici works on multiple at a time and its supposedly good when things are quiet, but each day we get closer to the end of the window and we still have a lot of holes. On the whole I'm actually pretty optimistic about where the squad could be come the end of the window I just want to start seeing things get closer.

I think it’s easy to see the first game rushing towards us quickly and think the window is shutting soon, but in truth there’s another three weeks of transfers yet. Plenty of time to address our needs. I think we will be waiting for transfers out before we see any more in though.

Yea I read this as well from some Juve fans, I think that was maybe less important at Juve but is imperative at Spurs. It's just that we seem to have little to no interest in our deadwood players (not too surprising really). But we really need to be somehow trying to shift the obvious ones to make room for some new blood. We needed a massive turnover of players this summer, just a very difficult job for a new DoF and coach to do in such a short space of time. By this time next summer I feel we will have a much better understanding of Fabio can do for us.

3 strikers for one position ??‍♂️
Or 3 strikers for two positions and maybe a bit of rotation and/or substitution.
As I say if we have all three then we can release an existing member of the squad, I'm not sure what is so hard to get one's head around.

Three is the best amount of strikers to have in a squad, one target man, one support striker who can double up on wing and one poacher

The last 7-10 days of a window are always the busiest, it's always been this way.

We tried to move the transfer window before the start of the season and the rest of Europe simply took it as an opportunity to deal in a non-PL climate.

If like us you are looking to do a lot of squad juggling it's likely you have to wait until then. You have to accept the future is more important that the now.

Yes but getting a bit depressed now.

I live in hope of any news that we have another deal about to break. It’s like this every year. I should be enjoying the summer - instead just wallowing in misery…?

It’s probably unwise to pin your happiness on a football transfer window.

I did that when we had the no signing season. It put a massive downer on my holiday. I vowed never to again.

What happens, happens. Its out of your control,.so no point fretting, or worrying about it ?.

I think what has impressed me so far is his ability to address the areas in need such as the defense. Now I didn't use the term "identify" on purpose because even Ray Charles could see we were poor at the back. So although the club may have seen this too they somehow lacked the ability to address this. I hope the ITK comes off and we also strengthen in the striker department too regardless of if Kane stays.
