So let's get this right:

  • Nuno - Fastest manager to get sacked in our history and almost certainly our worst ever managerial appointment

  • Gollini - Several howlers already, doesn't even look good enough to be a reserve keeper

  • Gil - Sacrified a long standing, hard working member of the squad for him and he's already being sent back to Spain after just 6 months

  • Romero - Looks good but been injured constantly

  • Sarr - TBC

  • Royal - Clearly nowhere near good enough and already lost his place to the much ridiculed Matt Doherty

  • Conte - A manager with a top pedigree, but is he suited to the current squad in its current form given the resources we have?

I mean seriously??? That's a bloody awful track record so far after coming in off the back of a spectacularly unsuccesful final few years at Juventus that they are still trying to recover from.

48 hours to go and we still have no cover for Kane, no technical ability in midfield and no credible attacking threat at RWB. Of course, we cannot judge the window until it is closed - things heat up at the end as we know. But based on past performance, all I'm expecting are more crap players that aren't going to improve the first team but will drain what limited resources we already have.

Lot of work for this guy to get done in 2 days. Its going to be hard to defend him if it all falls through.

Hopefully he can pull a few rabbits out of hats.

Getting Conte is a good move any way you look at it, but I agree 100% with all the others. Add to the fact he was prepared to hire Gattusso!

He spent approximately 100m in the summer and our first 11 is weaker than it was before he came. I'll wait until Monday until declaring this window a shambles, ut the summer one wasn't great.

Irony here is that he’s going to help them recover by taking the castoffs he signed who doting make their team ?

Hey Fabio. It's getting pretty late to make these signings. Even I am getting a bit worried.

I’m curious to see how this all plays out, and there’s always more behind the scenes going on then we see. But this has to be deemed a failure from Paratici thus far. Let’s hope he can pull it out of the bag.

Agree. Looks ike we haven't a clue what we're doing. Directionless.
Bought a rb in Emerson where we now play windbacks so he's also redundant.
Utter shitshow all round.
We're now trying to shift3 attacking midfielders out the door and bring in another dm. Couldn't make it up.
We had a different manager when Fabio arrived and it was made clear from the offset he was going to play 4 at the back. He signed players with that system in mind. We changed manager to someone who plays a different system with different requirements. I can't see how that is the fault of Fabio. It's the cost of not getting Conte in the summer and picking a bad choice who only lasted a couple of months.

Lets get this right :

Conte : The manager Paratici wanted first time, who was rejected by Levy and had to go for Nuno with managerial process already seen 3 other manager before he took the job. But then he finally did get his man

Romero : Unfortunately injured...but any sane Spurs fan will start him in PL moment he gets back. Conte too did start him in his first game. So, trying to paint Romero signing in a negative way is nonsense

Gollini : He did win Serie A gK of the year a season before. He is not shit. But he is brought on loan for 2nd option. And he is on loan with option. We can send him back with no cost - so what is the problem ???

Emerson : If Emerson is shit , Brazil doesnt select him in national squad. Emerson is a very decent RB who will go on to have good career. Same people who critcise him for not crossing well , also criticised Kyle Walker . A player in his first season in PL - he may improve.

Gil : Have not started one PL game but fans who have seen him in few minutes he plays, understand there is a prospect in him.

Sarr : Very good 18 year old, who is important not just for his club but also in national team of Senegal. He is actually having a good season having also being part of AFCON. So, no negatives here

Had Levy appointed Conte first time like Paratici wanted, Paratici may not have bought Emerson like or Gil like player. He may have used the funds to buy a Wingback.

Why do we keep forgeting the fact that Conte is manager we appointed mid season. So context is important. Decisions in summer would have been different had Conte been there. Fact that Paratici is willing to send Gil on loan is also good - he has to play ball with Conte having appointed. Traditionally a DoF may not do this - but we as a club needs Conte more than Conte needs us.

I understand the flack, but I have to admit it's exciting when FP is in action near the end of this window.

You can tell by some of the moves he's making - if he had signed Amrabat last week, yes we'd have a player in - but now it looks like we may have a chance for a better player imo in Bentancur. Same with Kulusevski, it seems he has that one almost wrapped up, and now there's mumurs were interested in Ousmane Dembele.

Of course, I can see how this burns us at times, but the man is constantly looking to improve the side and I'd imagine that's why he's working on 100000 deals at once. Yes we'll get pinched sometimes, but it at least makes me feel good the guy can move to the next target just like that without us sitting on our hands.

I think any criticism of Paratici should also come with the caveat that it's not been an easy situation to walk into.

Let's review.

Paratici arrives late June and his first task is to find a coach who can get something out of an imbalanced and demotivated squad. That also includes Tottenham's talisman wanting to leave.

Ndombele wanted to leave. Aurier wanted to leave. Other experienced players wanted out.

There was never going to be a quick fix.

Paratici got his first appointment horribly wrong. I can forgive him for that considering he had very few choices. Levy clearly wasnt prepared to buy a coach out of a contract having had to pay off both Jose and Poch.

It has also been suggested that Levy tried to get Nagelssmanm, then Flick, and wasn't keen on Ten Hag. That severely weakened Paratici's hand. Having to find a coach that probably wasn't contracted to a club. There was hardly any options on the table.

FP apparently did contact Conte initially, so if that's true then he should be forgiven.

Back to the squad. With Nuno coming in and probably not the most desired option, you have to ask yourself. Would you have been happy for Paratici and Levy to give him all.the funds to sort the squad out? I don't think anybody would have felt safe doing that.

We also had some big players who we hadn't yet replaced or were needing to replace (Toby, Eriksen, Lamela, Vertonghen, Wanyama, Dembele) as well as players in the squad who needed to show if they can improve under a new coach (Lo Celso, Sess, Ndombele, Tanganga, Sanchez, Alli) and replace those they had been brought in to replace.

Basically the squad had holes but holes that could be resolved if certain players improved (Ndombele, Lo Celso, Sess). Nuno even stated he was happy with Sanchez despite the club originally being willing to sell and reinvest, we know cause Pau Torres confirmed we bid for him.

So FPs first window was not exactly an easy one. Players to replace but answers may be in the squad, so unless they were sold, not much we could do. Perhaps he could have signed a striker but it sounds like we wanted Vlahovic and were prepared to wait for that.

Since Conte has come in, I think the realisation has struck the club that the likes of Ndombele, Lo Celso, Alli can't replace those that we'd brought them in to do and now it's a case of clearing those out to allow us to replace. It's just those replacements aren't going to be available until the summer, as they are certainly going to be key players for their club.

For example, McKennie and Kessie are two who have been connected a lot. But there's no chance Juve release McKennie and Kessie is going to wait until the summer (who knows if his agent has been leading us along). Perhaps we have more targets, all in the same situation.

If we had have sold Ndombele, Lo Celso and Alli then maybe we would have the funds outright to make these clubs offers they cant refuse. So we are having to tie things over until these players are sold and the selling clubs are more open to letting targets go.

It does appear that Paratici has tried stuff (Diaz, Kessie) but it's not happening because either the club is refusing to sell now or a bigger club is going to step in.

So why not use what you know (Juventus players) to help you out until we can reach a stage where we have less limitations and a bit more reach.

However, if we reach the summer and we are hearing the same stories about loans and familiar targets, then I would become concerned.
Great post

I'm only guessing here, but if Fabio has a say in next season's kit, I'm going to take a stab at what it'll be ?

He was not rejected by Levy! Conte felt it was too quick to get back into managment, after leaving Inter. He has already confirmed this!

Yeah. In a propaganda-esque interview with the club. I’m pretty sure they just failed convincing him in the summer.

Oops. I read your post totally wrong. No way was Conte rejected by Levy.
