Would it have been a red for De Gea too? I'm a bit lost on the last man, goalscoring opportunity, thing now.
I'm not sure. I think it has to be denying a certain goal. You could argue both ways whether he did. Dele didn't score so maybe it wasn't certain, or maybe had he not staggered he would have got the shot off quicker.
I think Pogba was immensely lucky not to get a straight red and in fact won a free kick in the 2nd half too.

The legend's dropping truth bombs.
Some people can't handle truth bombs.

I remember in the summer there was someone seriously suggesting we should stage a protest cos we didn't sign any players.

This win will do us a power of good.
especially mentally.
Another pundit stick snapped.
It won't stop them
but we are steadily confiscating their weapons.

Watched the game again, Craig Pawson was shit.

We would have crumbled in the past and felt sorry for ourselves especially since he was giving them everything and not getting a penalty.

Also looked at some of our defensive drills especially in the 2nd half, how the back line moved up and down depending where the ball was, Dier dropping in between the two CB's when Utd had the ball wide, covering players when others went out of position, mesmerising stuff.

Yeah, there was a few instances where he didn't give us a clear and blatant foul.

I agree with our defensive tactics from last night, and whilst I didn't think we were at our best with the ball last night there was certainly an intention to allow United to come at us more and soak things up - although Rose's rustiness was not helping with that at all - and that could explain why we weren't so sharp with the ball due to the adapting.

I think Poch is starting to apply different things now, rather than try outplay the bigger teams at their ground we are setting up for the counter a bit better and keeping a more solid defensive base. Last season at OT I think we went there thinking if we played to our strengths it would be the best move, however Mourinho's teams will always shut down the passing lanes and look to exploit you with a moment or set piece. Whilst you could see United shutting off the passing lanes, you could also see that we were actually trying to bypass that, we threatened with it in the 1st half and it certainly worked in the second half.

Looking at how we have played against both Newcastle and Fulham we are surrendering possession more frequently and I do believe this is partly down to an adaption in how we are set up to play. At the same time we still have the gears to move up should we need to.

Really we should have had two penalties.

One on Moura in the first half, and one on Dele in the second when he stayed on his feet after being clipped by De Gea. I get that he stayed up and got the shot away, but the clip from De Gea meant the chance was gone. Should have gone down.
I'm incredibly happy he did this, despite the fact that we probably would have got more of a reward had he gone down.

Gives me some ammo next time the "Dele is a diver" debate resurfaces.

Dele has very much matured over the last 18 months or so. He has learned how to control his frustration. Personally I am very pleased at the increasing maturity he is show, something nobody has yet given him credit for, not least the tools last season demanding he be dropped.
