Edwards, a bit like Gordon, is not the quality of player that will push tottenham on. He wouldn't get in the arsenal, Utd, Liverpool, City, Chelsea teams (I know they went after Gordon) so i dont think we should be looking at him. Really glad he's gone on to have a great start to his career and shown at the big stage what he is capable of but for every mazy run there are several gaps in his defensive work and consistency to make him a top 4 challenging winger/10 in my opinion

All I'll say on this is that some of my stuff comes from the club some from a fairly prominent agent. Agents talk and when one of their clients is a pain in the arse, they can be pretty forthcoming when in similar company.
See at least 5/6 youngsters on my lads team, same issue (just not as talented as this lad was).

I would put Edwards in the same category as someone like Benrahma at West Ham. Decent technical player capable of moments of magic but not at the level we would seek consistently. Throw in the alleged off field issues and this is a no go. Best to use the sell on as leverage with sporting for Porro or another of their players.

Is the ME talk, that of us signing him, or just secondary noise that we've spoken about him to leverage our sell on fee to reduce the Porro fee if we go for him?

I can see how whispers might confuse the latter with the former...

Not convinced he's good enough for us either. Great technical dribbler sure but he's not actually got much running power. He's obviously more robust than Gil but I can see him struggling physically too. Finally his ball striking isn't exceptional. The goal against us was great but even from his highlight reel there aren't many examples of brilliantly struck shots.

Just look at all the problems we had with Ndombele, and we're still not rid of him. Attitude is just as important as talent when it comes to signings.

This reeks of Levy playing FM again.
I don’t know if you’re taking the piss or not. You’re generally a reasonable position later but some of your stuff lately has made me wonder.

It’s clearly just newspaper bollocks or as the itk has suggested Sporting offering him out to us.

Is his attitude issues still exist then it's a hard No, last thing we need is another player who is not committed to giving his best for the club.

And you wouldn't be worried those issues wouldn't rise when he hooks back up with his London clique?

This is wrong on so many levels... but on talent he could play for any of those teams if his attitude is professional

Maybe we are discussing the sell on Edwards to lower the Porro fee? Just guessing obviously.
I reckon that’s exactly what’s being discussed as I really can’t see Conte wanting Edwards as part of his squad build.

News breaking this morning in Portugal that negotiations are ongoing for Edwards and Porro. Fee of €75 mill mentioned. On the front page of Abola.pt now: Abola.pt

i have a simple rule when recruiting staff that has served me well. Always recruit based on attitude, a shit attitude is nearly always a life long traitand best avoided.

Great stuff. Porro looks good and a nice return for Marcus. Sentiment aside, as well as playing rwf he grew up as a no. 10 so could be important for our change in formation.

Odd that we'd have 3 very good left footed wingers.

the only plus side of this deal would be him being club trained and homegrown especially when Kane leaves next summer
