Tomorrow the Daily Telegraph have a report about match fixing in English football and the biggest investigation into it for decades. Also, the National Crime Agency have said six men have been arrested, apparently one of them is an ex Premier League player, for alleged match fixing.

Only a matter of time before something like this happened. Way too many dodgy results and incidents.

*cough* http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...-fulop-gifts-arsenal-third-place-7743458.html *cough* Surely?

That game still makes me turn green with rage.....and to think he is a 'childhood yid'. Apparently.

When I heard this I looked up footage from the game. The first and third Arsenal goals are two of the most ridiculous goals I've ever seen any team score.

Not surprised that it's in the lower echelons of football as they money being offered is a lot more than the players normally get paid.
I'll laugh my tits off if Cambridge United are involved as the wife and father-in-law are big supporters, and they're currently top of the league.

I'm pretty sure it happens further up at the top as well. Maybe not as blatant, probably a lot more subtle, but I'm sure it's there. The money involved in big match days in the Premier League is phenomenal and some unscrupulous characters out there are going to want a slice of that pie. The big leagues in Europe have all been infected with it and I find it highly doubtful that ours hasn't either.

Surely to fix a score you need loads of players involved from BOTH the teams playing?? If that is the case there must be loads more people involved beyond this 6, this just scratches the surface.

Not really....just having a goalkeeper in your pocket is all you need, and it's the result that's bet on, not the score.
I fully agree with the scratching the surface bit though....when six have been arrested, you can almost guarantee that one or more will blab for a reduced sentence.
Previous cases of this always seem to involve a dodgy official at some point....Atkinson and his ghost goal vs Chelsea spring to mind.

Well in the Mirror piece it states the guy saying the score must be 1-1 or 2-0 in the first 45 and then 2-0 in the 2nd 45! That's exact scores that need people at both end of the pitch involved

"The first 45 minutes, the result must be two-zero or 1-1. In the second 45 minutes, two-zero." The man, who claimed to be connected to renowned fixer Wilson Raj Perumal, was also recorded boasting he knew what the score would be for one particular team.
He said: "I know what they're going to do. I know because they tell me every time."
