Lloris - 6 - Nothing to do apart from picking the ball out of his net three times.

Doherty - 5 - recent uptick in form firmly brought back to reality.

Reg - 3 - hopeless in the offensive third. Poor defensively. I’m not sure his brain and feet are in contact with each other.

Dier - 6 - first game for ages that he wasn’t quite at it. Should have closed Ronaldo down quicker for the first.

Romero 6 - was having a good game and played a key part in the own goal. Unfortunately, again let down by his defending at a set piece.

Davies - 6 - decent defensively but has a habit of playing passes in forward positions that simply aren’t on.

PEH - 7 - worked hard but slow to transition the ball.

Benters - 5 - worst game for us. Dilly dallied on the ball a lot. If Winks had produced that performace, he’d have been slaughtered.

Kulu - 7 - another good game. We lost all attacking wit and composure when he went off. Baffling sub.

Son - 4 - his general play recently is becoming a worry. Spent more time on the floor than on his feet. Should have scored.

Kane - 6 - good pen, but not at his normal high levels

Subs - all pointless.

We just need to grin and bear it until the summer. Don’t get too upset, it’s only football, far worse things going on in the world.

Weird game. I thought Reggie, Son and Kane were all poor today. Everyone else did okay. I certainly didn’t think we deserved to lose. But I felt Conte again mismanaged the game. The Kulu sub was flat out stupid. He was our best player. And again, he did nothing to strengthen the middle of the park. And again, a team beat us on a set piece, because Romero is terrible at marking taller players. Yet, Conte won’t tinker with his lineup and consider, let’s say playing Rodon or Dav in the middle, to compensate for this glaring weakness. I mean, let’s face it… Davies is probably our best option for LWB right now. The other options are horrid.

If he plays the same back 5 against Brighton, we will concede at least one goal from a set piece.

I am in the minority here… but so far, Im not feeling blown away by Conte’s greatness. He has his pros, but there are also very clear cons as well.

Thought we were the better team apart from our defensive lapses which resulted in Utd scoring 3 from what was a limited supply of chances.

lloris, not sure he could do much about the goals but let down by his flakey distribution.

Dier needed to do so much better on the first goal, you can’t let Rinaldo have that much time to set himself and this goal was avoidable if Dier closes him down, followed it up with some poor clearances. Romero decent, left Rinaldo for the winner but that looked like it was because he went towards the unmarked player coming through. Davies was solid enough, need to see replay as too why Rinaldo was so free for the second.

Doherty got in some great positions without having the quality to capitalise, his challenge on Ronaldo for the winner passive, Big drop off from his resurrection performances. Reggie just frustrating, apart from playing them inside for the second he squandered a lot of good possession and apart From the ball for the Maguire OG his delivery was poor.

Thought PEH and Bentancur controlled the midfield with PEH everywhere. Bentancur caught on the ball a few times but the issues weren’t these two.

Kulu the best of the advanced players by some distance, tenacious and bit of quality on the ball, MOTM for me. Son was the worst spurs player on the day, ineffective and looked Like he forgot to put his studs in. Surprised Kulu came off and Son stayed on. Kane didn’t have a great day but he can certainly take a penalty.

our defence made more mistakes than theirs and Ronaldo had a bit more quality than anyone for us, apart from that we were better which is no consolation.

Was impressed with Kulu and PEH but everyone else was average at best. I thought Bentancur had a noticeably poor game - seemed afraid to make forward passes when we had players open and wasn't great defensively either. As people had said, he seemed a bit overawed by the occasion and lacked the conviction he's shown in our other games.

Depressing result, but can't help but feel we brought it on ourselves. All 3 goals were somewhat avoidable (although Ronaldo's first was admittedly an incredible strike) and we were wasteful at the other end of the pitch.

Was hoping we'd be showing more consistency under Conte by now tbh. Not saying it's Conte's fault, but there's clearly still a hell of a lot of work to be done.

Hojbjerg was MoM today. That's always a bad sign. Also, when he's good it only makes it clearer how limited he is because he'll break up play, bring it forward and then mess it up. But he was good.

It was a very frustrating game. We didn't play that well but we were still the better team and came away with nothing from a match we should have won. Utd were there for the taking.

Kane, Bentancur, Son were all not quite on top form, and messed up a lot of good opportunities. They simply had Ronaldo.

Doherty tried hard, got into some great positions. He was threatening. But at the end of the day, he's just not very good and it didn't come off. Obviously, he's not as hapless as he was though, which is good.

The main problem we have though is that we don't want to make any subs because they weaken the team, a lot.

The tactic where Pierre drops deep into a CB position and Reggie (I think) hugs the wide left touch line seems to leave us lacking in the CM department, particularly if Bentancur is a little off. Many times he'd pick up the ball in the left CB position after dropping deep and not have many options. That's sweeping long pass out onto the right worked a few times, but you need the wing backs to be deadly for this to be a useful tactic. Otherwise you're horribly out gunned in the middle.

Agree with general views here .

I'm still baffled about Dier backing off and squirming away from Ronaldo's coming shot . Essentially he was saying 'OK, edge of the pen area , you can have an unobstructed, free shot on goal ' ....like wtf !

A total dereliction of duty .

Agree, but it was his first glaring error in a long time.

Harsh, he had quite a few moments going forward yesterday, and some excellent switches of play that opened up the game and led to a dangerous moment.

Dier shouldn't have to close down Ronaldo that far out, he should be checking himself to stop runs going in behind, but both Bentancur and Højbjerg had completely vacated the space in front of the defence and Dier had to react to that.
