why was everyone dissapointed with taarabt?? he put in effort, he wanted the ball! he tryed to make things happen, so what a few passes went astray least he was actually trying to make something happen. makes me laugh to be honest, did no one see modrics passing today?? he gave it away alot more than anyone else.

Alnwick 7 - two good saves, nothing to do with goals, thanks Ben for this decent show in touch game.
Gunter 7 - decent, beaten once again in 1st half but later made good tackle and decent match.
Dawson 7.25 - good game.
Corluka 7 - good game.
Ekotto 6.75 - all of good defending vs Wellback, but his corssing were poor.
Zokora 6.25 - a lot of effort but still not good enough
Huddlestone 6.5 - played decent game.
Bentley 6.5 - worked hard but still no produce.
Bale 6.25 - same as Bentley
Modric 5.5 - looked poor today with big regret, can't fault him as he was unfit.
Pavlyuchenko 6.75 - good finish for the goal, apart from that he was missing.

Giovani 6.25 - ok, same as Bentley and Bale
Taarabt 5 - too much with ball, let you feel that other 10 players were sent off, should try to make crosses !
Defoe n/a

Referee zero, for that poor tackle by Welback on Ekotto in 1st half with no card and foul, then in 2nd half same player v same player near Man utd box and still no foul, then Taraabt deserved a foul in last 10 mins and it might be penalty decision deserved in added time.

He is not fucking useless.

He needs time. He had clealy been told to pass it more by Harry which was playing on his mind. It was against man U and his team mates werent exactly up for it.

He didnt have a good game today but he is noooo way useless. He is only 19 and is definitely one to watch for the future.

If you say so. My opinion is that he's not good enough. May i just ask why you believe he's going to be something special? Just from what you have heard most likely. I hope im wrong

And yes today he was actually fucking useless and isn't this topic about todays ratings and not what i think he'll play like in 3 years time

pretty dull game. neither team put out their best side, though United went with more of their first team. Other than Pav's header, which made in interesting for about 30 minutes, they brushed us aside with little effort.

Highs - Pavs goal and Gio getting some minutes. Not much else to celebrate.

Bentley was one of the best together with dawson and the ever consistent Corluka. Gunter was good too. So all those get a 6

The rest get all 4. pure shit

Alnwick - 6 - Apparently he's not a complete shambles
Gunter - 7 - Solid and determined
Dawson - 7 - Always there to be counted
Corluka - 7 - Always impressive
BAE - 7 - Very impressive especially early on in marshalling Welbeck

Bentley - 6 - Got stuck in but it's not happening for him
Zokora - 6 - Covers ground but will always lose possession
Hudd - 6 - Passing's always there but looks limited in other areas
Bale - 6 - Faded in the second half but who didn't?

Modric - 6 - Worked hard and had some nice touches

Pavlyuchenko - 7 - Clever player and the goals say it all

---------------------------

Gio - 6 - Signs of a player that could make a contribution
Taarabt - 4 - Every pass gave the ball away
Defoe - 6 Applied himself but team didn't play to his strengths

Alnwick: 7 - Redeemed himself from a shaky debut. Made one cracking save

Gunter: 7 - Good attitude, coped with Ronaldo and Fabio reasonably well

Dawson: 8.5 - Solid, won everything. Our most in form player at the moment

Corluka: 7.5 - Looked decent once again, effortlessly able so move positions

Ekotto: 7 - Another one who redeemed himself after Burnley, good going forward

Bentley: 7 - Good effort, responded to the kick up the backside

Zokora: 6 - Can't fault his work effort, but some poor passing

Huddlestone: 7 - Sprayed it about nicely, shook off the midweek rust

Modric: 5 - Not sure if he picked up a knock, but looked very cautious and pedestrian. Still not able to fulfil the role 'in the hole'

Bale: 5 - Looked out of sorts all season, confidence looks shot to pieces.

Pavlyuchenko: 6 - Good goal but was completely isolated for most of the match

Subs:

Giovani: 6 - Looked OK, offered some threat

Taarabt: 5 - Still too selfish, towards the last five minutes we needed urgency. He plays like there is no such thing as time, a true enigma

Defoe: N/A - Little time to judge

taraabt kept passing the ball to the team in red - that was a considerable disadvantage

yep modric wasn't great either

as I (and others) keep telling people, jj is our best mid

I dread to think the cyber blood that would be splashed on here if JJ ever passed like AT today

Alnwick - 6 - Some good saves, looked a bit more assured.
Gunter - 6.5 - Good game defensively up against Fabio and Ronaldo, just not quite enough going forward.
Corluka - 6.5 - Solid enough and looks composed as ever.
Dawson - 8 - Class today, won everything in the air and was up Tevez's arse everytime not letting him turn. Also looking more composed on the ball these days.
Ekotto - 7 - Thought he had a very good game today, looked better defensively and also offered something going forward.
Bale - 5.5 - Definately better at LM than LB and maybe could be our answer...just needs more confidence.
Zokora - 6 - Once again, cannot fault the work-rate of the guy but he sometimes hides and doesn't want the ball enough and when he does he gives it away a lot or plays backwards. But at least he seems to want it.
Hudd - 6 - Similar to Zokora, a lad with his ability should want the ball all the time but dips in and out of the game too much and will unfortunately never have that extra yard of pace required.
Bentley - 6 - Looked a bit better again today and worked tirelessly tracking back to help Gunter with Fabio and Ronaldo. Much improved work-rate and attitude.
Mod - 5.5 - Just weren't his game today, didn't offer enough.
Pav - 6 - Worked as hard as he normally does (not quite a Tevez, but never will be) and scored a cracking goal. With better service, him and Defoe could be very good together.

Subs:
Gio - 6 - Such a clever little footballer and seemed to want the ball a lot but lacking the flair the earlier glimpses we had of him showed, got a feeling he is lacking in confidence and who can blame him.
Defoe - 6 - Not enough time or service.
Taarabt - 5 - Its a shame we are in our current situation for him as it means he seems to be told not to play his normal game and pass more. If we were free of relegation troubles I'm sure he would get more time and allowed to play his normal, free-flowing game and then we would see his magic. Hopefully hold onto him and he will be moulded into a superstar (big IF!).

Overall, wasn't the greatest of games, but we looked good defensively again. I think the commentator summed it up when he described it as "defeat with dignity". We didn't disgrace ourselves and although it would have been nice to nick a result I think a replay is the last thing we need at the minute!

I'd give Alnwick a 10 for character to come back after the week he had.
7 for the performance though.
It's a pity Hudd is not fit enough good 1st half poor second.

Someone please explain to me why Gio deserved more then a 6??

He had numerous chances to go at his full back and kept coming inside and before anyone says that he was playing on his wrong side, that's where he played most of his football for Barca wide on the right of a three when Messi was out of the team rested or injured.

Dawson was superb today again but if you can mix Zokora's workrate with Huddlestones natural ability then you would have some player but unfortunatley they are two players that need to be sold. (Can't see it happening though)

Yes, but those two wide men often cut in on their favoured foot. It was often the full backs who pushed forward to cross into the box (I'm not even sure Barca do even cross the ball into the box that much, who's going to head it anyway?)

Agreed on Taara, but he played about 3 x 30 yards passes forward in a row(shades of Ghaly v Blackburn). I've never seen JJ do anything like that.

Alnwick - 7 Good game. Did better than I expected after Burnley.

Gunter - 7.5 Solid and will mature further.
Dawson - 8 MOM. Destined to become our future Captain.
Corluka - 7 Reliable as ever.
BAE - 7 Solid at the back.Sometimes erratic with crosses.

Bentley - 6 Still not up to the standard expected.
Huddlestone - 6 Polised but slow and not enough mobility.
Zokora - 6.5 Ran and covered acres of ground. If only he could have better distribution !
Bale - 7 He is slowly but surely coming back to better form.

Modric - 6 Not one of his better days. Cautious not to get injured ?!?
Pavlyuchenko - 6.5 Good goal. Faded out as the game went on.
______________

Giovani - 7 Showed that he can cut it at the top. Needs more games.
Taarabt - 5 He keeps the ball to himself. Not a team player.
Defoe - 5 Hardly got into the game. Disappointing.

Alnwich-8
I must give him credit! he showed great courage after conceding three against Burnley. Made two world class saves from I think Scholes 1st half and Ronaldo 2nd.

Gunter-6
Improved performance only criticism was he did not overlap enough down the right.

Dawson-8
Mr Dawson if you can keep up that level of performance consistently It won't be long before you are talked about for England.

Corluka-7
Controlled and calm.

Assou-Ekotto-7
Defended well and was about the only Spurs player on the pitch willing to get behind United's rear guard.

Bentley-7
Getting much better, increased work rate and better delivery's but I still think the team needs the pace of Aaron Lennon because we have to many players in the team/ squad we similar traits.....AND NOT ENOUGH PACE!

Zokora-7
The man is ultra professional and always puts in a shift.

Huddleston-6
Got on the ball more in the second half but two many square balls....NOT ENOUGH PACE

Bale-5
Better on the wing but still not enough quality efforts or attempts or delivery toward's goal.

Modric-5
Poor. Did not link the play from midfield to Pav at all.

Pavluychenko-7
For the world class goal and movement...unfortunatley lack any support or service (is the story this season)

Subs:
Gio-7
Classy player and should be involved much more in our starting 11....IMO his at a much better advanced level that Taarbat.

Taarbat-5
He has the skill set but not quite the executation...Gio for me is more advanced.

Defoe-6
No service.

Redknapp_4
our play was pretty but not penetrative enough...WE NEED MORE PACE IN THE TEAM AND TEVEZ LIKE WORK RATE.

Aknwick 8 - Difficult to find fault, redeemed himself
Gunter 7 - Stuck well to his defensive duties, could have showed more enterprise in closing stages
Corluka 7 - Solid
Dawson 9 - A Rock
Assou-Ekottu 8 - Had Wellbeck in his pocket and contributed consistently going forward, let down by a couple of dodgy deliveries.
Bentley 7 - Showed more attacking enterprise than anyone else in midfield
Huddlestone 6 - Strolled and passed sideways
Zokora 6 - Did what he does, but it is not enough at this level
Bale 6 - Did not really test his fullback
Modric 6 - Off his game
Pavyluchenko 6 - Needs to make more of a nuisance of himself

Giovani 5 - Disappointing, made no impact
Taarabt 5 - We found out why he never passes, he can't; but it was encouraging to see him trying; for once though I would have liked to have seen him being a bit more selfish
Defoe 5 - Never got in the game

Disappointing that we sat back after the goal; Harry made the right substitutions, but we lacked the passion and self-belief to take the game to United. I am starting to lose patience with Huddlestone.
