If we do sign him especilly for that kind of money we will be selling
You don't need to be tall to be a good defender, you don't even need to be tall to be a good header of the ball.

Being correctly positioned is key to winning headers, if you have good positional sense, you position yourself where you can get a run and a jump at the ball, against your opponent. This puts your leverage a lot better and momentum would be with you compared to your opponents standing jump.

A standing jump against an opponent taller than you puts you at a disadvantage, but there's tricks on how to put opponents off by using your arms and position your body, so that, yes they may win the header, but will be off balance or not get a good enough connection to be as effective.

Players like Baresi, Blind, Silva and Cannavaro are/were masters of this.

Agreed. Was going to say Baresi and Cannavro are perfect examples. Both were only 5ft 9 inches. Two of the best CB's of all time.

True, but if he was as good as those two he wouldn't be on the verge of moving to us at 24 unfortunately! Let's hope he's good enough to adapt and deal with the big lumps at West Ham, Stoke and alike.

He clearly isn't on their level, but who knows he may become that good.

If we had a spine of Hugo, Musacchi, Verty, Capoue, Schneiderlin I can't see many teams beating us.

Exactly this, same for those who think you need pace to be a good defender, it's all about anticipation and positioning.

JJ been retweeting some stuff on twitter...

@sidlowe: @lev_simon just saw a few comments about him on twitter etc.... Dont know if it's on or not. But he's a player i like a lot

@sidlowe: @lev_simon tall, strong, good on ball, intelligent. I guess doubt would be adaptability to a different type of football.

It's relating to Musacchio and JJ seems to be in agreement
