@Spurspanyol: Spurs might need to buy-out Musacchio's agent's stake in the player (30%) so that Villarreal will receive a larger piece of the fee (17M).

This doesn't make too much sense unless....

As per @Ossie85's post way back in this thread: Villarreal did a deal whereby they bought 50% of six young River talents. Unfortunately, their scouts were crap, and every single player was eventually released for a free. However, under the deal, Villarreal was able to swap one of the players for another young River talent, and they exercised this option on Muscacchio. But because Musacchio's agent already owned 30% of his player, Villarreal only got 35% of him. They then went to court and lost.

Perhaps Villarreal is attempting to get back to that 50% share. So, say we buy Musacchio for Euros 17 million, of which Euros 5 million is the agent's 30%. For Villarreal to get to 50% of the deal, we'd need to pay them another 2.5 million on top, as I can't see the agent giving up that cash.

This would be highway robbery, as Villarreal lost the court case. But if it's the solution to unblocking the deal, we might consider it.

Alternately, @Spurspanyol's post may not make much sense....:):(

The maths here might be, agent will accept a buyout of 30% of 17m (£5m), and then Villarreal get their 17m (total £22m), rather than a total fee of £24.5m to give Villarreal their 17m as the total minus 30%? (pure speculation)

Seems simple to me ALL we need to do is get the agent to accept what we offer for his 30% AND get river and Villareal to accept what we offer.

Lets face it, we wont offer what any of them expect, however thats not saying Levy wont end up fucking all 3

If Villareal or Pochettino or Musacchio's agent or anyone thinks Levy is ponying up an extra £5m they've got another thing coming.

Is that an opinion of Spurspanyol or is it info??

Because it doesn't make any sense at all. If we buy his agent share, Villarreal would still hold 35%. And if we are willing to give that later to Vilalrreal, the deal will be 17+5.
But it doesn't really matter as the PL doesn't allow this.

Pure speculation of course, most transfers are split payments over years to a football club. Meaning the agent will have to wait for his cash. What I think Villarreal are asking is if we could pay the agent a lump sum say 70% of the agents fee up front. They then get more of the £20m minus the agent fee. But over a few years.

That's my interpretation of spurspanyol.

Not that anyone asked

yeah, except for the fact we cannot buy shares of players, and we don't even need to. The only club that needs to accept the offer is Villarreal. The other parties don't have a say

So we've gone from all but done (friday), back to haggling over who owns which part of him and how much of said part (today)

I say we go back in for Damiao.

10x simpler if you ask me.

IMO, why dont we offer 20mil for Stones or 15mil Matija Nastasic, and just move on, wait for neg reps
Nastasic is left-footed and Stones just signed a new contract (they'd want a lot more than £20million for him).

People panicking for no reason again, it seems.

I love the doom-mongers going on about this negotiation its vintage SC!
Its a negotiation for a lot of money FFS and we wont just do a City or Chelsea.
This is well progressed however now in a bit of a holding pattern and we are cooling off due to 3rd party and Villarreal getting a bit over excited with the money. So we are just playing it cool.
If i was to talk about percentages i would say 80% chance of go-ahead but that is a positive and i would only say 80% even after someone had done a medical and agreed personal terms!
